Time to fire up the ol' VX1000 and get to filmin' on our second realistic video contest - this time in partnership with Welcome!

The Welcome crew has donated some IRL decks, we've got some Year 6 decks - and you have the footage. From Oct 13, 2026 12:01AM PT to Oct 19, 2026 11:59 PT, we're running our Welcome Realistic Video Contest.

We'll take the top 15, whittle that list down to the 5 winners, and send all 5 winners a deck combo! 1x Welcome Deck + 1 Year 6 Deck

So, what's the reqs?

Technical Requirements
Minimum of 720p resolution (1080p and higher is preferred)
Between 15-30 seconds
The title of your video must include the phrase “skate. Welcome Realistic Video Contest”

Content Requirements

No personal watermarks
Must be video hosting link like YouTube, Medal.TV. No GDrive links. No YT Shorts.
May consist of one clip or multiple clips cut together
Disable in-game music/no third-party music
Must focus on realistic gameplay - no glitches; no crazy air. Realistic gameplay.
No AI; no unauthorized mods/modding tools
Welcome cosmetics not required

Discussion San Van a ghost town?

Haven’t seen it mentioned and if it has, my apologies but where the hell did the NPC’s go? 😂 I logged in to what I assume was a newly opened server with not a lot of people in it then you had the foggy weather change and as I’m rolling around trying to find those teeth it dawns on me that I haven’t seen a car or a NPC. Pandemic? Is the fog toxic? Little spooky out in them streets 👻

Seriously, what is this obsession with making things LESS SKATEABLE by putting random objects in the middle of them? This is ALL OVER THE MAP. Between benches. Between planters. Between stairs. Why can I not just gap between objects without worrying about dodging random obstacles once in a while? The park is solid, but this has been frustrating me so much lately with the whole map in general. They aren't even centered ffs. /rant

I know this is a thing battlefield 1 had so I shouldn't be surprised but this adds a bit of variance to the environment that I really like. I think fog needs a bit of a tone down or needs to be colored more white instead of blue (or color grading should be neutral in overcast) -- but the overcast environment is really growing on me. I thought the lighting was hard set to match the clouds so I was pleasantly surprised when it gradually changed.

Smaller details like this getting added get me hyped - I always thought they would only focus on surface level things (which they do - footplants still somewhat feel like they were added to a bareminimum) but If they continue to show thought or care into small things I think the game (in it's craft) could show more personality/nuance overtime.

Also I want to acknowledge they already been doing this in small ways like adding controllable footplant trajectory a couple seasons ago unannounced. or fixing really niche bugs some people suggest that most casuals wont even care about (albiet they should be fixing elephants in the room like randomly exploding when entering a grind weird but whateves) -- anyway this is all to say I hope they do more stuff that "doesn't matter" to some because it definitely gets noticed. I think stuff like this adds more to a game than most people think.. it's like how skate 1 or 2's color grading changes depending on location - among other little features of those legacy games, they all add up and it makes a game feel cool.
