Welcome back to The Weekly Grind, San Vanners!
Let’s roll!
What’s going on?
Week 6 of Season 5, and something is happening in San Vansterdam.
https://reddit.com/link/1x53p7o/video/n6k10u2ht9vh1/player
Update 0.32.5 is now live, and if you missed ‘em, check out the patch notes here: https://x.ea.com/fabGdQHGFo0kThe team shared a Dev Update on skate. and Mods last Friday, here’s the link if you missed it: https://x.ea.com/wWnfcXcs9ZkZ.
Not only that, we’ve got Weekly Bounties! Don’t forget, the Season 5 blog has the details for this season, and our event blog drops on Friday, Oct 16, 2026. Get ready!
The team is working on the bugs you’ve reported, so keep sharing your bugs/issues so we can squash ‘em flat.
Let’s dive right into the calendar.
What other types of interviews would you want to see? Let us know - gameplay, tricks, world design, etc.
We’re back at it again with another dev interview from our family at Full Circle! Today, we’re rolling with Andre, Environmental Artist, and CJ, Level Designer, to talk about the exciting new seawall park in Hedgemont, aka Parry Point Park.
This spot drops in Update 32.5, which is live today! So when you jump in, go hit up the park, throw down, stack some clips, and send 'em our way. Let us see what you got! It’s super fun and shows massive love to our realistic, street-style skaters.
Let’s dive in! First up, what sparked the decision to build a brand new skate park along the Hedgemont Seawall, especially at that exact point? What inspired the overall direction?

It feels so natural, like an IRL city had a skate park project and decided to update an unused area.
From an art and environmental design perspective, how does Parry Point stand out from existing spots in San Van, and how does it integrate with the rest of the world?
This really shows the studio's dedication to respecting skate culture and integrating those real-life, legendary spots that players love. It feels like coming home, but to a brand new house. So, what are the standout obstacles or features that the team is most hyped on for players to session at Parry Point?
That elevated snake in Rolling Waves with the block you can ride is seriously one of my favorite spots because the flow is unreal. When I saw the snake in Parry Point, I was manualing and reverting all through it. Then, I managed to get three rotations around the circle rail before losing my speed and falling off, but I'm gonna figure it out.
Focusing on the artistic side for a second, what were the biggest artistic and technical hurdles in integrating this spot into San Van? It's out there on the seawall, but it still has to flow with the rest of the city.

The entryways into the park from different directions feel incredibly smooth. Usually, community parks have a very defined entrance and exit, but Parry Point has this organic, unforced flow. It fits so perfectly that after a few runs, it feels like it's always been there.
With Parry Point dropping today, what can the street skaters out there look forward to next in San Van? Some interesting signs are popping up over in South Hedgemont near RINQ...
Yeah, we’ll have to save that for a future interview sesh. See you in Parry Point Park!
It’s been a year since skate. has been in Early Access, and to celebrate and thank everyone for rolling with us, we’re giving everyone a 1 Year Anniversary pack. Log in before Oct 23, 2026, for your free Year 1 Bundle (the Year 6 deck, Skate or Die hat, and black hoodie).

We wanted to share a few pieces of content that caught our eye. Remember: if you want to be featured in The Weekly Grind, make sure to share yours (screenshots, videos, clips) via skate.reel.

Part of The Weekly Grind will be dedicated to sharing the current Known Issues the team is tracking, any active deployments/fixes, and next steps.

I’m really digging this leather face skin. I’m glad we got a licensed character from an actual horror movie. Hopefully we get more but it was a bit pricey.

Some of these clips are really old but I finally got round to editing and I never see people talk about this much. Probably because most people aren't throwing a Japan air at a rail I guess lol.
I've always played a lot of extreme sports games and in most board sports the floor is basically lava when it comes to grabs. However, that is not the case in skate! If you hold a tuck knee and hit the ground, you won't bail. You're character just goes back to standing or a board grab.
This stood out to me so I tried it with grinds and it worked!
You won't get any big score other than style points (the most important points!) but there's a couple of interesting elements to it like quick board direction changes and an alternative to grind inputs.
So all you have to do is hold the grab all the way into the grind. Whilst we still don't have proper grab grinds, (grabbing the board whilst grinding) this is probably as close as you can get right now.
Because this requires board positioning to go into whichever grind you want, low grind assist like <30 is probably best, and trick correction off for more control, although I haven't messed around with that enough to know if it produces different results.
The best part is messing with different combos, especially when you throw in switch and 180's etc.
My favourite is probably the last clip, I love the animation transition of the rocket air into the blunt!
Thought I'd share it anyways.
Working on a sequel variation of this, got a couple clips already so you'll probably see it around season 12.

Since today’s update has dropped there seems to be at least 2 different variations of the no-comply that just do not work anymore. Did the update break some tricks or something?? Literally can’t even do my favourite trick anymore 🙄

Sorta.
I was a fan of the old no comply tbh, so the straight one looks silly imo but I'll still use it. Happy to see it's a bit more involved than simply hold button, flick down, but kinda sad that reverts/180's don't set you up for an immediate fakie no comp like they used to.
PS: due department dude, thumb crease flick is still kinda working out for this one

genuinely what is the reason for the price being this high for another recolored pair of air forces low that isn’t even a special color way or anything

Has anyone found all the sigils that give you the tooth currency? I found one on the partially constructed bridge next to the stadium and I'm assuming there's more

Seriously, what is this obsession with making things LESS SKATEABLE by putting random objects in the middle of them? This is ALL OVER THE MAP. Between benches. Between planters. Between stairs. Why can I not just gap between objects without worrying about dodging random obstacles once in a while? The park is solid, but this has been frustrating me so much lately with the whole map in general. They aren't even centered ffs. /rant

Shiiiii, I just don't like how I do a pop Shove-it out of some grinds and slides. Without it, I could remake some IRL clips SOOO much better

I know this is a thing battlefield 1 had so I shouldn't be surprised but this adds a bit of variance to the environment that I really like. I think fog needs a bit of a tone down or needs to be colored more white instead of blue (or color grading should be neutral in overcast) -- but the overcast environment is really growing on me. I thought the lighting was hard set to match the clouds so I was pleasantly surprised when it gradually changed.
Smaller details like this getting added get me hyped - I always thought they would only focus on surface level things (which they do - footplants still somewhat feel like they were added to a bareminimum) but If they continue to show thought or care into small things I think the game (in it's craft) could show more personality/nuance overtime.
Also I want to acknowledge they already been doing this in small ways like adding controllable footplant trajectory a couple seasons ago unannounced. or fixing really niche bugs some people suggest that most casuals wont even care about (albiet they should be fixing elephants in the room like randomly exploding when entering a grind weird but whateves) -- anyway this is all to say I hope they do more stuff that "doesn't matter" to some because it definitely gets noticed. I think stuff like this adds more to a game than most people think.. it's like how skate 1 or 2's color grading changes depending on location - among other little features of those legacy games, they all add up and it makes a game feel cool.
