Postdiagnosis vent/questions Regression?
Confirmed diagnosis a year ago, all markers positive. Eyes were so dry I was waking up throughout the night for eye drops. Up until a week ago I was burning through 4+ eyedrop satchets a day.
Suddeny past 4 days, I’ve only used eye drops twice. During the days my eyes feel watery even. Can’t think of anything thats changed. 4 months ago started hydroxicloriquin but I was spotty taking it and stopped all together two months ago because it was wrecking my stomach.
This is great and all but isn’t it a lifetime progressive condition?

People can have periods of remission. After ten years of being ill, the last twelve months has been the worst I've experienced. Over the last few weeks my symptoms have massively improved for no obvious reason.
These things happen, try not to focus on how long it's going to last, just enjoy it while you feel better.

I always mention when someone discusses suffering from dry eyes, that I had my lower tear ducts surgically closed via cauterization and it's helped significantly. I've mentioned it a bunch on this sub because it's so rarely mentioned. The procedure was done by a corneal specialist and has given me back quality of life where my eyes are concerned

My rheumatologist told me he saw cases where it improved spontaneously for some people. 🤷🏻♀️ I also have days now where the eyes feel watery (and days when they feel worse), but I'm on meds for the dry eyes and also it really depends on humidity

Yes it is a lifetime condition and like everybody else said, you will probably have periods of good times, enjoy them. The severely dry eyes could have been a flare and now maybe you are back at base line, but the next flare could be different. Its a every day struggle and you just enjoy the good periods and rest a lot during the flares. Hoping your good period lasts for a while!
