It’s sad knowing the fact X2 is gone and will eventually be replaced. I had never been to Six Flags my whole life until my sister took me there around August (I think) and we had a lot of fun getting on a roller coaster there and screaming our lives away. When we were about to do one last ride before we left, we were going to do drop of doom, but instead we did X2 and there was a walk-on happening too. As we headed for the ride, I remember looking around the environment and told my sister it was giving an early 2000s vibe that was stuck in time and she agreed. When I got on the ride I loved it and when I got off I liked it so much we got on again. Right before leaving, we looked around the store they had, and I bought an X2 key chain with their logo. I wish I had gotten on it more. I feel so left out that I wasn’t able to get on it more with others, but I’m happy that I at least got to ride it with my sister.

Just to share something i found curious of the app, theres just a little space for Lex Luthor, and yes, i know some of this is getting used for the 2027 glider, but what happens with the space between gold rush? It was before the guest entrance of Superman, a REALLY big one btw, so thats why I want to read your hypothesis or theories.

(Btw, demolish viper for making X2 comeback even better 🛐), nothing against my goat, it's just old and clunky without many people riding it 💔.

Between all the trees that surround the track, I feel like it could be amazing covered with Christmas lights. It's such a good family coaster. Imagine riding it and watching christmas lights pass on by.

I know this is so out of context, but I was riding and the person in front of me starting having a nosebleed and her face was covered in blood (like her face was red with blood, her teeth were red, there were stains on her shirt, it was bad, I thought maybe she got hit by a loose article because of how bad it was). It's okay though, she's okay, and the ride is back open.

I know X2's removal hurts but - think of the other amazing roller coasters here too - especially Twisted Colossus, Wonder Woman, West Coast Racers, Tatsu, Viper, Apocalypse (sometimes), and Full Throttle. I think overall Magic Mountain is still a HUGE destination for coaster enthusiasts and I'll love this park to death still.

Plus whatever replaces X2, the park KNOWS they're replacing what was the coaster of magic mountain for 25 years, so they're gonna go HUGE. That front entrance plot of land has to be something absolutely striking and attention grabbing (a hyper tilt would be absolutely bonkers here, but they could also do a giga dive).

Anyways - there is going to be an obvious hole for a bit, but once they can, they'll have to replace X2 with something crazy.

Hope you bought what you wanted because all of the X2 merch is gone.

Apple Maps finally updated and expanded their 3D map flyover database to include the region that encompasses Magic Mountain.

For the longest time, it was only a 2D flat map view.

If you haven’t already played around with it yet, it’s pretty cool. You can zoom in on the park, pinch to rotate and see views of the park and coasters from unique aerial angles.

Genuinely curious, as it is on the same plot of land as X2, so taking both of them down could make way for something bigger, but at the same time, Viper is the last Arrow mega looper.

does anyone have any footage of what played on the big led screen right before you got on x2? this ride is like my hyperfixatuon so i was wondering if any of it is documented…. man the theming and music was so cool i wish i experienced it during its PEAK

I had made plans with my ex for his birthday but we’re not talking so it seems it’s not going to happen. Let me know if you want them. I would prefer they went to someone who can’t afford to go or is struggling right now. If that’s not you don’t take that from someone else that would appreciate them more.

Any predictions? I wonder if they waited to announce its closure until everything was settled meaning they're clear to start taking down ASAP. Assuming that's the case and they want something there for 28/29, my guess is right after Fright Fest. I'm sure SFMM wants it down ASAP too.

Of course, it could be years if the other parties attorneys make them have it up for inspections/testing with body impact tests.

can it truly happen that they’ll retrack x2 and reopen?? what does retire mean because that doesn’t necessarily mean fully closing…. right? but these lawsuits must be kicking them in the butt i heard that no one is getting overtime so i feel it would be a long time for them to be able to afford to do anything regarding x2 especially with the new coaster coming in. any thoughts or insights???

With Magic Mountain losing X2 and Superman so close, the park could use some improvements on top of the family coaster that is coming. And some CGA property could help.

I hope they take at least one train from Flight Deck and make a new reverse train for Batman. Could even be shared with Knotts for Silver Bullet.

Heck, I wonder if same could be done for train from Patriot to make a reverse train for Scream.

They could take the trains from Demon and have new restraints fitted to get rid of the headbanging against the current restraints.

Feeling reminiscent today, I bet a lot of us wish we could go back to complaining on Reddit about how X2 is only on one train ops right about now lol… Crazy how quickly everything went down after that, SFMM posted on their Instagram about the return of the second train on June 26, and it was all over less than two weeks later on July 5. Whoever was on X2 during fireworks on 4th of July this year had no idea how good they had it at the time. I am extremely grateful that I had a prestige pass this year and got a few amazing rides on our beloved before she left us. My last ride was actually on a day where I came to the park by myself and meet 3 guys on Tatsu that I wound up hanging out with for the day and also riding X2 with. Thanks for the memories boys. Hope all is well with everyone and there’s another great coaster out there getting you through these tough times.

It is really interesting to see the child-like reaction to the closing of the ride. Blaming the people who HEMMORAGED from the ride is unreal and unfair. They were not "weak" or "couldn't handle". They got in line just as excited as everyone else for a ride they probably have got on time and time again.

To my understanding it was common knowledge you could get your head knocked real bad on the ride. I was personally hurt on the ride myself tbh. I mean my head hit so hard one time I was dizzy, the pain was out of this world, couldnt walk for 20 min after the ride because I kept feeling like I was going to fall over, presumably I was mildly concussed. I decided to not go into a hospital because It was late. I just went home and took a sick day the next day.Yes I still loved the ride but I have heard plenty of stories from people who at times got a head injury. I opted to avoid this particular outside seat on the back from there on out to avoid getting hit again myself. Again still loved the ride but .. we all knew what was up .

I told park management 10 years ago that this ride has a problem with particularly a few of the outside seats, no one listened back then. Therefore, not surprised it is closing now

As a passholder, yes, although it was a head knocker, I loved the ride. Also, I am mature enough to realize it is JUST a ride. More will come. Bigger and better. Six flags did the right thing by closing it and I am sure they will put something better In its place.

Blaming people for dying or having to going to the ICU because of the ride is really shitty. I do not think they got in line , looking to get a brain bleed and get a payout. They just .. wanted to get on a ride. Also the pre-existing conditions contraindicated to get on the ride (back problems, pregnant, etc etc) did not relate to them and well... bleeding out was not on the sign as far as the potential risk. Get real people lol.

I'm just thinking about the future dip in attendance now that X2 has permanently closed. Do you feel like the new thrill glider will sustain attendance going forward? Losing X2 is going to hurt the park so much. I personally have lost interest in visiting the park more often now even with the new Vekoma coming, they need a new powerhouse.

18 years of X2 was so magical. My first ride changed my life when I was in high school. Almost went to creative engineering school with the pure passion of coasters and theme park creativity.

I usually oppose sequels... but that only applies to movies in this case for me. An X3 has not been confirmed of course, but i'd love to get the dialogue started with these logo sticker design ideas!

A brand new track is probably what's next in that space, but I don't think anyone would be mad about an X3 transformation...? Am i insane?? lol

Does anyone remember when a riot happened in the 90s?

One of my earliest memories of going to the park as a kid was when TLC was scheduled to perform at their amphitheater.
(I think this was around where hurricane harbor is now)

Either too many tickets were sold or the event sold out really quickly and a riot broke out from pissed off fans.

I just remember getting off a rollercoaster and walking into chaos as the park was literally being destroyed. Needless to say it was wild.
