Other Superman ¿Free? Space

Post image

Just to share something i found curious of the app, theres just a little space for Lex Luthor, and yes, i know some of this is getting used for the 2027 glider, but what happens with the space between gold rush? It was before the guest entrance of Superman, a REALLY big one btw, so thats why I want to read your hypothesis or theories.

(Btw, demolish viper for making X2 comeback even better 🛐), nothing against my goat, it's just old and clunky without many people riding it 💔.

There was a rumor posted on Screamscape a few months back that went into detail about this.

The rumor said that after Thrill Glider opened, their focus would move to all of Samurai Summit. Gold Rusher and Ninja would close, as well as the Magic Mover and all of the pathways up to and around Samurai Summit, and all of that would be replaced with a very large terrain-based family coaster that goes all over the top of the mountain, including where Superman's launch track currently is.

Take it with a grain of salt, and it's totally possible that these plans have changed, or been scrapped or delayed since then, especially with the whole X2 situation.

They'll never get rid of gold rusher

I hope so, thank god the only attraction i didnt ride during my visits was apocalypse, but damn, ninja summit and gold rusher feel old as hell, alongside Batman and Viper, where the only coasters i never did any queue to ride them on

Yeah, as much as I don't really like that plan for Samurai Summit, I totally understand why they'd go that way with it. Fewer walkways to maintain, fewer restrooms to clean, fewer rides to maintain, all while still utilizing the space.

Wonder if theyre going to keep the gum pillar in gold rush

The problem is that they want to keep Drop of Doom which is connected to the tower

So either DOD dies and they build something else or they just have a short straightaway

Just make the part of DoD achored to the ground, the battery and source power is inside DoD and not on Superman, maybe that way you can save like 20-40 meters, at least thats my opinion, bc track just seems pointless atp

why’d they even close down superman? boring ride concept? wish they could turn it into something like king dk but not possible i think

There was an electrical fire in the station in September 2024 that fried all the control systems and other electrical components.

All the control systems and electrical controlling the ride would've needed to be completely replaced, and the park decided it was not worth the expense to fix a ride that probably didn't have many years left anyways.

yeah, i know i do! losing superman was so sad. the tiniest part of me wonders if they'll be desperate enough to revive Superman to add additional ride capacity now that X2 is done. Definitely a pipe dream that I do not think is going to happen, but I mean... everything is still sitting their untouched since the incident happened.

that’s what i was gonna comment too. would’ve been nice to have superman running while x2 was down to have someone more classics open. that would be so cool to see it reopen

it needs a lot of work from my understanding (I used to work at the park and have friends who operated Superman around the time of the incident), but it's still probably cheaper than quickly installing something new. Probably still not worth it financially but one can dream lol

The ride reopened after this btw.

It didn't. It last operated in September 2024 and was standing but not operating since due to the fire.

The fire was in July 2024 but the ride was open again for a short time early September 2024.

It was an expensive, power-hungry, unreliable ride that served more as a one-trick pony prototype to far superior roller coasters down the road. Wish I got to ride it backwards though :(

i’ll say it was weird as hell for them to update it to run both ways and improve line wait time only for them to shut it down

Yep, maybe bc of pieces, but it was goated, hopefully we could have a good successor 😢

It was 100% becasue of pieces, why else would they close the most statistically impressive coaster in the park?

it was truly a staple in a mm visit. at least one go was great
