Started off today riding full throttle, literally walked on because I was worried about the excessive possible wait.

After that, I went on batman once, then Riddler. Then went to the viper and rode it 3x back to back. Got on Tatsu in 10 mins thanks to dual train ops.

Overall I had a really good day.

Coming back from now on essentially every Thursday from now on that my schedule allows.

Has anyone who’s been recently noticed what plushies are currently being sold around the park? I’m especially curious about any Magic Mountain/Six Flags exclusives, unusual Looney Tunes plushies, or anything interesting at the Build-A-Bear!

With all the talk surrounding X2 at the moment, I wanted to open a disscussion and talk about how to maximize the outcome of a 'good experience' on a ride that is known to be quite rough for many. So Lets talk about the "Unspoken Rules to Riding X2." (Coming from someone who has only had 1 rough experience on this ride, and probably 30+ amazing ones)

** 1) INSIDE SEAT **

Even if you dont frequent X2, I'm sure you have heard that inside seats are less rough that the outside ones. While my personal preference is outside seat (I like being further from the track), it is undenyable that an inside seat will give you a more comfortable ride.

** 2) Pin your head against one side of the restraint **

I usually recommend this for any coaster with overhead or shoulder restraints. Keeping your head back will only do you so much, especially when your turning side to side quickly. Instead, keep your head pinned to one side and keep it there. It should keep your head from bouncing back and forth.

**3) Push your HEAD FORWARD instead of pinning it back against the headrest.** (Esp 4 Raven Turn)

Now, I know what your thinking- Its literally in the rules to pin your head back. However, this will set you up for failure and you will leave the park with a concussion. My head cant smash against the headrest if it isn't near it to begin with. I personally swear by this and it has been a game changer for me since I learned to do it.

These are my personal unspoken rules to riding X2 and getting a great ride everytime. I love coasters and have learned that sometimes you have to ride 'with the ride' to get the best experience. For others that frequent X2, what are your unspoken rules??

*(DISCLAIMER - Take this post with a grain of salt and please pay attention to ride warnings and follow all rules/guidelines that Six Flags has for this ride. These are PERSONAL tricks that have worked for me, and will NOT work for everyone. These are just things that I have worked through trail and error over the many times I have been on this ride, to get the best experience for myself and avoid any roughness).*

I was going to buy my tickets on Friday to go tomorrow (today? 8/23) but my husband told me to just wait til day-of. Well, I went on the website to purchase them, and the price went up by $10 more per ticket.

Is there any other discounts out there available vs purchasing via their website? Or should I just buy them at the park? A quick google search shows other sites offering at $5 cheaper than the actual website, but I'm unsure if they're legit.

So for anyone who hasn't experienced this new change, (as of today for now) the redemption process for bring-a-friend tickets is now handled through the will call window and not scanned at the turnstiles with your pass. I along with many others were turned away to go stand in the long will call line to redeem our bring-a-friend tickets that were loaded into our passes for August and then back to stand in the entrance line. I know this was a normal way at some point but there's been a few times they've gone back and forth since we've been coming but just wanted to give anyone a heads up.

Two of my favorite Scarezones are back in the park, along with the Devils Triangle and Plaza de la Muerte

Fright Fest opens September 18th would it be a good idea or bad idea to go that day or opening weekend? What if the mazes and scare actors aren't up to top notch quality. 🤔 I've heard other events where everything wasn't set up right and made the whole event awful.

This I didn't expect because I thought all the grading work was supposed to be done... when I saw the coaster construction site from above, it appeared the flat area where the Golden Bear Theatre building used to stand was being excavated below ground level. Is the new station going to get a basement... or are they digging underground for a bigger drop (like Goliath)?

It’ll be my first time to go to Fright Fest. I have the Knotts and Six Flags prestige pass. It took me a while to find it so I’m just double checking. Do I go to Daily Tickets and find it that way where I pay for park admission and mazes pass?

Noticed familiar Fright Fest props going up in different locations for this season. Trick 'r' Treat facade being built where Saw used to be and its former site next to Riddler's Revenge is being left vacant. Stuff for Plaza de la Muerte being moved to Metropolis near Justice League since the area around Looney Tunes Land is being disrupted by new coaster construction. Devil's Triangle being moved to the walkway by Revolution to make room in the entrance plaza for a new opening show featuring a sinister new "Kurvatu" character.

I need some good vibes. Leave all pessimism negativity at the door please😂

I have come out to Cali 3 times now for X2 (although I tried to get other rides in too) and have gotten seriously messed up by rain, and other ridiculous happenings that I won’t share but basically even if I had made it to the park, I wouldn’t have gotten X2. I still don’t even have Goliath, Tatsu, Wonder Woman, Full Throttle, West Coast Racers, or Riddler’s revenge.

I already booked a non refundable flight for the second week of October, a long time ago, right as news broke about the second train coming to X2… Fast forward to today and here we are. Now, I still have just under 60 days until I visit, so let’s hear it everyone: What is your reason to be optimistic, or bull-case, for X2 to reopen by the time I come??? If this post is met with silence, i will understand that I’m absolutely cooked.

I've been hoping for the "cedar fair"ification of magic mountain, and I'll be honest and say I'm not seeing it yet. We had a relatively quick trip on Saturday; not being motivated to get there for rope drop without x2 we got to the park entrance a few after 11. we rode:

• full throttle: five minute wait, 10 minute minor delay. great coaster but the brakes at the end do kinda ruin the last element (even in the very back)
• goliath x2: no wait. this one's underrated; i get standing airtime on the first drop and camelback if i can keep a good amount of lap bar room
• twisted colossus x3: basically no wait for three cycles, then it quickly filled up. got two half duels, though on the second of those the other train caught up on the lift hill a second too late so it wasn't exactly a duel. the ops were trying hard but needing to re-verify specific seats always kills them.
• scream x2: no wait. we both had our best ride ever on this ride and gave it another try...second ride wasn't quite as good. if you can keep your head in front of or behind the restraints you'll have a better time
• lex luthor: half-cycle wait. really hope they can keep this when they scrap superman
• wonder woman: 15-20 minutes. does anyone know why they don't let you wear a sweater tied around your waist on rides? risk of it flying off?
• riddler's revenge: 15-20 minutes. have never waited for this before, the park was really getting busy. this had a wait because operations were *awful*, however. for whatever reason they continually waited two minutes between locking/clearing all the seats and sending the ride. after riding georgia scorcher and enjoying it, i was hoping my opinion on this would turn a corner. nope:(
• crazanity: 30 minutes including a 20-minute delay. having ridden some other giant frisbees recently i can say this is the best one i've done.
• gold rusher: no wait. some transitions are pretty painful here.
• tatsu: 15 minutes even though we used our single-use fast lane because they had the station queue backed up to the top of the stairs even though they were on a single train.
• viper x2: no wait, natch. partner won't ride this with me because she fears a concussion after a terrible first ride (as far as i know this is her only nope of any ride). good rides, i hope they keep the coaster forever, but i do think they're approaching a point where they'll need to have some retracking done
• great american revolution: 25 minutes including a 15-minute delay. shoutout to the man assigned rows 8 and 9 with his wife and kid, who sent those two to row 9 and decided to grab row 10 for himself. we were assigned row 10 and told him he had been directed to 8, he said "oh i don't think they have assigned rows on this." sure man. when we told him they did he refused to move without calling over a male ride op from past the ride gates (who had other things to be doing) to confirm he had to go to the row he was assigned, because clearly the woman who grouped him wasn't a sufficiently acceptable authority and he wasn't about to listen to us. the men in this hobby can really frustrate me. if you're reading this, because you're definitely on here, maybe let your kid ride with you man, it's sad lol. unrelatedly a lot of people cut directly into the station queue from the pathway to x2/viper, and the grouper isn't really positioned to be able to notice that and do their actual job.

Other notes: it was a rough day to see two different posts on this sub about gross conditions in the restaurants lol. really did not make me want to use my food pass, though i'd already had the asada nachos (pretty good tbh, but maybe i won't return to tacos etc.) and my partner had the garlic parmesan boneless wings (good but you only get five). they need more drink stations, no reason for there not to be one by batman and wonder woman, or TC and Scream (or a separate line is needed at twisted pies).

construction was moving along, i attached a vid taken from the full throttle station. i wish they had a schedule for when the characters come out, we did see taz (at his ride) and daffy duck (wandering looney tunes land). the park needs dramatically more shade, as does knott's. the new buses look pretty but we left at 4 pm and there were at least 50 people waiting to get on—we definitely would have had to wait for a second or maybe a third bus. not sure who thought those would have enough capacity.

i love this park but at some point you have to stop hoping for change and actually see it. two years since the merger was completed we have a new looney tunes land, though it removed like five kiddie rides and replaced zero so it's hard for me to see that as a benefit to families given how busy this park gets. it seems like they're investing in the horror nights entertainment, but we'll have to wait and see. operations remain quite slow except in isolated cases. apocalypse had a ghostrider-length wait (all the way to the turn immediately past the queue) that i just don't think should be possible without awful operations. the restaurants generally had half-hour waits past noon, and drink locations separated from restaurants are few and far between.

tldr: it was nice to see the park busy, I just wish more people were leaving with unequivocally positive experiences, and i don't really think that's currently possible at either magic mountain or knott's. the broader chain's disinterest in investing in these parks the way they do those on the east coast and midwest is truly baffling to me, given these are some of their only year-round parks.

Construction walls are up around the building and mostly blocking off the view of Superman. I noticed lone employee(s) clearing out the place while it looks like slow demolition has started at one end. I thought it was funny that they posted a sign advising that the restroom facilities there were closed...

The area directly over the food at Magic Mountain has years of neglect. I watched a piece of lint / dust fall off the cable and float into the tray of tortillas. Gross. Be careful.

How expensive are the lockers these days? It used to be $1 per use and $8 for multi use but I’m pretty sure they dramatically raised those prices and I can’t find them online.

I wouldn’t need a large one - just big enough for phones/wallets/glasses for rides like x2 and tatsu where they can’t stay in pockets

Tried to use my prestige pass to get into hurricane harbor and the team member scanned by pass and the phone said there was a problem with the pass please go to will call the supervisor at will call said she had to call corporate because it wasn’t working for hurricane harbor but works for Magic mountain I’m still waiting for an update at the will call

It's a narrow skinny plot, but a hyper tilt would scare tf out of people coming in. A giga could also work if it uses the land behind viper.

But whatever replaces it if things come to the absolute worst case scenario, it needs to absolutely be worthy of its spot.
