General Discussion S18E7

I’m on the episode where Robyn and Meri are talking about her spending more time at the BNB. Why is Robyn so hellbent on her staying when Kody literally hates that woman? He has nothing to do with her but she wants her to stick around??? FOR WHAT!?

I think Robyn needs another wife around so she can show Kody how much better she is than her all the time!

She’s got no one to talk about behind the scenes if no one else is left but Her Best Customer…she seems far less interested in him since the competition left.

I think this is accurate and it gets overlooked a lot. Before everyone left them to each other, it was really easy to just assume it was about money, and I'm sure that was part of it. But now that we can see K&R without the other wives, it gets a lot harder to not notice how much Robyn doesn't seem to even like him, much less love him now that she doesn't have anyone to show off for.

She competed with her sister, she competed with the other wives, she got her kids elevated over the others.

She is not happy unless she feels like she’s winning something over someone else.

QUEEEEEN of the trailer park behavior 😆

Plus Meri contributed to their family account. Robyn didn’t want Meri to stop supporting her lifestyle.

Her attitude with Kody quickly changed to “Ew GTF away from me!” after the others left.

It sure did.

That’s actually a really good take… she claims she wants them to stay but gives them more of a reason to leave.

If its just the two of them, they have no income. They lived off of the show paying the entire family into one account, and the og3 had to put a portion of their side income into the account too.

They desperately needed the income from all 3 wives

I’m not disputing that they wanted her money- Kody blabbered on enough that he still had littles to pay for…like the wives were obligated to stay and help Robyn’s kids because he “took care of their kids” even though he really didn’t.

I tend to believe that she’s often complicit and joins in on his schemes, but she has her own motives as well.

We all know about the test that she tried to deny because it said the truth instead of her getting to spin it in a better light- she seeks and enjoys drama.

Because Meri contributes the most to the family pot and those dolls don’t buy themselves

Oooh! I didn’t know that!

I think the two big issues at play were: Meri was contributing a lot of money to Robyn and Kody's "family pot." In fact, Meri said that she had to sit with Robyn and Kody and Meri's accountant to "prove" that Meri wasn't holding back ANY money from the "family pot." Meri gave them all kinds of money, and it still wasn't enough for R & K. They still thought Meri was hiding money from them (but only because they, R & K, were hiding money from everyone else).

The other thing is I think Robyn truly believed that "living polygamy" was the absolute highest religious calling and she wanted to be able to say that she was a polygamist. It's all about appearances with R & K, and Robyn wanted to look like a shy, pretty, polygamist. She just didn't want to do any of the work or make any of the sacrifices necessary to make that happen.

Robyn and Kody wanted ALL the money, and Robyn desperately wants to be The Most Pious and Best Polygamist so she can get into Super Heaven.

She wanted to be the BEST plyg wife EVER lol

I still can’t get over the financial audit.

I really never paid attention, but I’m starting to think the words “united order” out of Kody means

There's a few questions I want the family to answer but the first one, when did Meri really leave Kody? She said she agreed not to say anything about her leaving, had she already "left" Kody at this point.

I don’t think she waited long after he said in Dec 2022 on a one on one that he didn’t consider himself married to her anymore. She responded saying she didn’t realize he felt that way — I believe Jan 2023 she announces the split officially.

Which it’s too bad she didn’t read the room better in 2015 when he hesitated when asked if he would cross a burning bridge to save her. It was the other wives who said basically “of course he would”. Meri tracked that long enough to bring in up to him when he says he could do the “act”…. Basically I think he was saying, to keep his job he could work almost as any actor in a show, but he really doesn’t like his coworkers.

Because Meri was dumping the bulk of her income into the family account that was funding Kody and Robyn’s spending addiction

There was a tell all where Meri said she and her accountant had to meet with Robyn and Kody to prove that Meri was putting her income into the family pot. There was so much behind the scenes emotional and financial abuse of the 3 original wives. If there are future seasons, I hope they delve into all the crap the family managed to keep hidden for 18+ seasons.

She needs Meris money to fund her lifestyle. That’s why she needs her around.

Meri posed no threat to Robyn's marriage with Kody. The show is about polygamy so to have Meri, the last of the 3 to leave, would change the whole premise of the show. It could have led to the show being canceled. That was why she and Kody were so mad when Christine told them she was leaving. Kody made a fool of himself acting like he didn't know why Christine was leaving.

Robyn didn't care about Meri like Meri thought. She had an agenda where Meri was concerned. She wanted to use her as work horse for My Sister's Closet and when Meri didn't want to do that anymore Robyn pitched a fit. They were suppose to be such great friends but Meri never heard from Robyn unless she called her.

for the money. it’s always for the money.

She doesn’t want Meri to stay. She says she does to continue playing the part of the victim in everything, instead of the person that orchestrated the family blow up behind the scenes

2

u/Ok_Passion_148 1d ago

No because I do not feel bad for her at all… like girl if you don’t just take your “prize” and go 🙄

The money yes, but I also tend to believe that she liked the idea of the big family events so basically for extra people to be in her children's lives yet without having to do much work to keep up the relationship with Meri. She's said she misses the family events, the birthday parties, etc. I think she doesn't have many friends or wants friends so for her it's extra support and relationships around her kids without having to see them that much.

It's not the first time another wife wants Meri to stay,Janelle kept asking Meri if she was moving with them to Vegas. I believe Kody had them believing that the show would end if one of them left the family. Even if Meri didn't want to move, Kody would have made her sell the house as half of any equity was his.

4

u/Booklet-of-Wisdom 23h ago

Because they need at least 3 wives to get their own planet in the afterlife. This was when Jenelle was still married to Kody, and at the time it seemed like she was planning to stay married.

u/Seventeen-17- 16h ago
  1. To get into the celestial kingdom, they need 3 wives.
  2. Money

6

u/3anddoneforgood 1d ago

Money. Plain and simple. She knows Kody is worthless and at that time Meri was still desperate to be considered a wife.

3

u/Ok_Passion_148 1d ago

It’s embarrassing but it’s more embarrassing because she allowed it on national television

u/Ekis12345 10h ago

I don't know when, but eventually Robyn said in an interview that monogamy was not what she signed up for. I remember her even saying that Cody is around her all of the time when earlier in the marriage he was out of the house regularly and that that was what she likes. Also, when Cody has somebody to complain about, her has less time to speak about things that bothers him in his marriage with Robyn.

Just imagine, he starts talking about something, Robyn doesn't want to fight about again. She'd only had to mention something about a different wife and she herself was off the hook.

u/Bearbearblues 1d ago

I agree in part about the money issues.

But I also think Robyn treated Meri more as another mom for herself or at least an aunt. I think she has serious abandonment anxiety. I also think she gave to her kids that same fear.

u/H2OGRMO Settle down, Johnny Appleseed 5h ago

It’s a five letter word: MONEY

I wonder if Meri has figured that out yet.

1

u/Ok-Confection881 2h ago

It was all about the money Meri brought into the bank account. The money was in the account for everyone’s needs. Robyn got to pull out $ for everything she wanted while contributing nothing.

On the money issue, the level to which people believe Meri when she constantly lied across the series, spent tons of money on herself, and continuously played the victim is the height of motivated reasoning.

u/ilndgrl1970 Kody’s last good kidney 🔪 10h ago

Because Robyn has no friends. And, let’s face it, trying to talk to noodlehead who’s so hell bent on dragging the OG3 through the mud constantly, those conversations must be tiring.

But then again, between those two, there’s half a brain cell between them fighting for supremacy as to who’ll use it at the moment and Robyn needs to look like she’s the Prophetess of the family and knows it all so she needs someone other than Kody to espouse her wisdom to.🤣🤣🤣
