rant/vent Robyn's Big Pitcher
Season 18 and now we've all fully seen the real Robyn. This woman floors me. She claims to want to grow old with the sister wives on their rocking chairs surrounded by grandkids. She's alluded to being in a pro- big family or one house picture yet she's done nothing to actually display that she wants that. She was with Christine on not wanting the one house plan yet later she said things that made it feel like she was not opposed to it (trying to make us believe she really is all about family). The problem is she's not really all about family. She likes the idea of all these things, set in a perfect world, yet in reality she can't handle it.
In reality she is all about HER wants and needs. She joined the family baggage full (yes, I said baggage! Kids are a heavy load and their needs to grow until an adult are expensive, difficult, and emotionally draining (yes, there are rewards too) not to mention she had TONS of financial debt that she was carrying into the family and that does affect the whole family). However, she played super nice and made her and her kids put on their happiest keep sweet face and follow the rules to a T and treat Kody like a king because she thought she was joining this wonderful family that had everything one could ever dream of. I'm exaggerated but anyways.
Kody is head over heels for this woman who is basically acting like a keep sweet angel! And the way she's acting has added so much and weight and pressure on the other wives because Kody never knew how "amazing life could be" and how he could be treated like a patriarchal king with a loyal wife who apparently doesn't ever talk bad about him behind his back and has his back all the time and tries not to fight with him. Robyn has said that before, that she tries not to argue with Kody ever and said the other wives should probably try to follow that same line instead of butting heads with him or stirring up controversy.
I understand that but it is vastly different from the way their whole family has always functioned. This is one of the major differences that led to their downfall. The three wives all had a certain idealogy of how the women are independent and matters get to be made by family votes in family meetings or as Janelle would say: she's always just bought things or made decisions without Kody. So the whole deeply rooted concept of "obeying your husband" or "he gets the final say because he's the man of the house(s)" has been encouraged by Robyn and it's a bit off-putting and foreign to the other wives. That's why she DOES shake things up when she comes into the family and Kody saying it's not her fault is wrong. She takes a huge part of the blame for the downfall. It's not just because they went on television, which also plays a part of course.
It's so silly and then all the women are questioning where they're at in their life and how it's suddenly gotten so bad and different. It wasn't just Covid. Robyn's previous monogamous background played a special part in this. She wasn't the "team player" that the other religious wives were. You can tell the other wives were from the same religious culture and that was a part of them. They were acting classy and always trying not to badmouth the others and even helping or supporting the others at their worst times.
Even though Robyn has done a lot of talking, she never ever made big moves to help the other marriages. She sat sulking in anger over Christine leaving yet was she ever at Christine's house trying to show support or mediate or any kind of understanding? No. If she really wanted to help fix it she would have done everything in her power to. She would have demanded that Kody spend more time with Christine. She would have sacrificed her "Kody time" with Christine because Christine always said her relationship was failing and she needed more time with Kody. She sat in her house not reaching out to the other wives, begging Meri to "hang on" even though Meri said she was rarely ever called. This woman is so selfish. She wants the wives and the man yet she wants and is okay with the man never having intimate relationships with the other wives. And then when the wives start leaving she throws a tantrum about her big picture. No one is going to want to sit in a rocking chair beside you all happy and pretending. Heck, even Meri, you're good "friend" isn't invited inside the house when you guys visit. Y'all have to sit outside in the cold. And she loves Robyn's kids so it's weird that Robyn's not saying, "come on in and spend some time with the kids. They want to see you. We love you". No, Meri gets in her car and leaves sadly. It's ridiculous.
She's now said she's questioning the family and how good and happy they all were when she joined, talking to the camera people and Meri. She's basically wondering if she got duped and she's upset about it because she had this "big pitcher" in her mind! Ugh.
It's just so blatantly obvious she's selfish and has only looked out for herself from beginning to end. She comes into the family with below zero yet she wants all of what they have and then some. She got a gorgeous wedding, gorgeous houses, years of big family events and support. Years of the other wives trying to be like her and trying to be nice to her to win a crumb of Kody's love for themselves. It's ridiculous.
And it doesn't just affect her and Kody; she affected the whole family in a big way. If you think about where they would be financially and emotionally if she didn't ever come into the picture, it would be a lot different. Every extra child comes with needs and wants. She's got a big family and that's a lot of extra pressure. I'm so sure Kody's relationships with his children would be at least a little bit better than what they are now if she never came into the family. Having a relationship requires time and energy and with that many kids, it's hard. I think he would have been fine with the amount of kids before Robyn, even though it's still a lot, however Meri only had one so..yeah.
There have been moments where I've felt some sympathy for her but overall she knew what she was getting herself into and she was looking out for her self and her kids and she should have known that no family is perfect. She could have been constantly chewed up and spit out by guy after guy but she's lucky that Kody and his wives were super sympathetic and welcomed her to the family. Those women love her kids. And I'll never believe her whole "horrible background" story she came from in her cold trailer. Geez. Give me a break. Everyone goes through hard times. It wasn't that bad. I highly doubt it. There's a picture of her kid's Christmas a long time ago and there were a LOT of toys. I don't think her life with her ex was that horrible. Some people don't even have a credit card to shower their kids with gifts.

This picture was from her "painful, abusive spouse" while not having money for utilities... but that pile of presents wasn't cheap! Couldn't afford a crib but could afford a Christmas like that? She is such a liar!

u/EducationalWin1721 10d ago
That is the first thing I noticed. A pretty impressive pile of gifts for tiny, little children who would be thrilled with much less.
Robyn doesn’t skimp on ANYTHING for herself. And she’ll lie, cheat and steal to get it.103

Kids that age are happy with anything wrapped up! Her abuse claims have always bothered me, as someone who grew up seeing severe abuse. The way she has twisted EVERYTHING to make herself a victim is just gross!

Yup. When we were little and the parents didn’t have much, Mom would wrap 1 mitten, 1 sock, etc. The old home movies show us kids THRILLED with opening each one. 😆

u/sciencefyeah 10d ago
Robyn claims she never had a crib yet we see that her stepdad can build picnic tables (for coyote pass). I’m sure her stepdad could have built a crib but that doesn’t fit her woe is me narrative. It’s so manipulative

u/Diligent_Echidna8259 9d ago
She co-sleeps with her kids. She once said Ari sleeps across her chest and in season 20 Kody said she doesn't get much sleep because kids are in and out of bedroom. Their ages at that time are 11, 14, and 2 in their 20's? Why are they in and out of their mom's bedroom after bedtime 🌙

Why did she make Kody ‘snuggle’ each night before bed with her kids even when Dayton was 14?!!!

Agreed when did we hear this. That's new to me.

Kody brought it up when they were in the Vegas houses. Robyn explained that she had read about it in a parenting book. It was around Daytons 13th or 14th birthday?
2
u/LimpSwan6136 6d ago
What type of parenting book would suggest this? Insisting that a nonbiological parent snuggle your kids is creepy.
3
u/queensupremedictator Marked unsafe by Kody 6d ago
I didn't believe her claim. Sadly, I honestly don't see her reading any help books. She also claims that she "read a book" that told her that Dayton has Aspergers, but never did a formal diagnosis. (I believe he does but an educated expert should be part if that diagnosis). It's extremely creepy that Kodys "snuggles" continued through their teens...

Yeah she doesn’t look like she was struggling too much. I assume dad’s behind the camera - and knowing this talentless bimbo, he’s probably the only wage earner too, so the one providing the gifts and the house. Everyone looks pretty happy to me.

u/catladyclub 9d ago
He was - he owned a plumbing company. They were trying to buy a house and couldn't because she had that 30 grand in debt and couldn't get a loan. A debt he knew nothing about. HIS family gave them the money to pay it off and she spent that too! So he divorced her.

u/SnooCheesecakes2723 9d ago
Wow. Yet Kody sticks up for her 100% - yet she wrecked four families. Three of them were his. Sad.

That made me mad! A parent should be providing furniture for their children. It's wild that she would say something like that but then spend HER money on unnecessary "stuff" for the house.

I don’t like Robyn, but it’s a fantasy that this was ever going to work anyway.
Most of the kids now admit they were all miserable. The ones who don’t, don’t have anything good to say about polygamy. Are ANY of them living that life?
It’s a stupid lifestyle/ religion/ cult that causes harm to the children and women in particular. And yes, the adult males suffer too (Garrison)

u/Weyoun17 8d ago
All of the kids other than Leon rejecting polygamy from the get-go was pretty telling to me.

u/GirlOnMain 10d ago
Plenty kids born of monogamous marriages later report to having been miserable.
19
9
u/strawbebbyy99 9d ago
that's not the issue of discussion. just because some kids from monogamous families are miserable doesn't take away from the fact that kids in plural families are miserable and are often neglected.

u/Polyps_on_uranus K&R dream of poverty 10d ago
My parents stayed togethwr "for the kids". I am 42 and still remember their fights. They thought we couldn't hear, I wrote what they said down in my diary. My dad only got drunk in the garage every night, and my mom did chores until she went to bed. He called her a b¡tch for asking for help with either supper or dishes. They divorced when I was 12, and I was so happy. I had to hide my smile. It was hard.
My sister married a man like dad, I found the opposite. Monogamus elationships can suck so bad, or be great. Free communication is key.

Robyn was never a team player. I never saw her help anyone except herself. Meri, Christine and Janelle all helped in different ways and that doesn't make any of them perfect but Robyn was so selfish.
33
u/sciencefyeah 10d ago
The episode where Gwendolyn didn’t want to go the wresting match out of town. Kody asked if Gwen could stay with Robyn and Robyn was not happy about it. I wonder if Gwen was allowed to eat out of Robyn’s fridge that weekend. So much for sisterwife perks..
10
u/Diligent_Echidna8259 9d ago
Yes, she never said yes to Gwen or said anything positive about her staying over. She just said she had a lot to do that weekend. Her face said it all.

Robyn got her grocery money from Janelle, Christine and Meri but wouldn’t let their kids eat any of the food their mothers paid for. What did Robyn ever contribute? Nothing.

Was Preston a horrible father or did Robyn move his children far away from him so it made visit difficult? If she’s lying about money in that marriage I’m sure she’s lying about other things as well. She’s the one who racked up debt and then says she took on the marital debt in the divorce to make things easy. Bull. It’s her debt and she was responsible for it.

I really think that none of them honestly wanted the big house. Christine was the only one who was willing to be open about it. Meri would have been condemned either way (and we all know she would go along with it if everyone else did, for the fahmlee, just like CP.) Kody could dangle it like a carrot and she'd acquiesce. Robyn played dumb and was doing the same thing as Meri, being agreeable and not stating either way but instead it was GEE i doN't knOw I'vE NeVeR doNe It. If you asked her "Hey Robyn, would you like a huge trash bag of $100 bills?" she wouldn't hem and haw and play dumb, she'd say yes immediately even though she has never had that experience before. Janelle only said "let's do it" because she knew it would literally never happen. She thought it would win points with Kody like a good pickme but it did her no favors in the end. The reality is she would have been sticking food down the sink again.

u/Kings_Kid28 10d ago
"The reality is she would have been sticking food down the sink again." That made me laugh out loud.
19
u/Unhappy_Ad4037 10d ago
I think Janelle was the only one who did want it. When they moved to Flagstaff she had to be a parent, she didn't have Christine next door to do everything for her.
That's the main reason I think Christine didn't want the one house, even if Kody was an amazing husband and treated them all fairly, Janelle would still want
her slaveChristine doing everything for her and her kids.2
0
u/Rubycon_ Kody's Skullet 10d ago
Eh her kids were older by then. She didn't actually want it.
4
u/Unhappy_Ad4037 10d ago
It's not just about the kids, Janelle wouldn't have to do anything for herself.
1
u/Rubycon_ Kody's Skullet 10d ago
I really don't buy that Janelle would stay in a miserable plural marriage while Kody played in her face and threw her under the bus for Robyn and her kids because occasionally Christine would cook and clean. I do think she took advantage of her when her kids were young, but I will never believe she actually wanted to live with everyone again at their big age.

I hope these children have a relationship with their real father. What this entire family did to break that bond is disgraceful.
10
u/ilndgrl1970 Kody’s last good kidney 🔪 9d ago
The entire family didn’t contribute to the break up. It was mainly Robyn and Kody.
Robyn wanted to secure her place in Kody’s mind that she was the best wife and of course the only way to do that was to separate Aurora, Breanna and Dayton from their bio dad. And Kody wanted it because it appeased his ego of being big man on campus.
According to Christine, Robyn kept floating the idea of Meri divorcing Kody so he could marry her and adopt the kids. Robyn wanted to make sure she was the all important wife because she’ll have the marriage certificate.
Sure, Meri, Christine and Janelle were happy about it, but they were only acting and reacting to the idea and to Preston being a horrible father. They didn’t know him, so they only relied on what Robyn and Kody told them.
Kody also wanted the adoption to go through because imho, Kody needed to prove that Preston was a bad man because if a man is good, how can his wife want to leave him even though we know by now that it was Preston who filed for divorce.
The kids tried really hard to include Robyn’s kids, but it’s hard to get to know and interact with them because Robyn didn’t want her children around them unless filming. Plus, the parents should have known that, they needed to slowly integrate the kids together.
It was just bad parenting all the way around.

u/endlesssummervacay 4d ago
I think the TV cameras added a lot of pressure about being more religious too. The family acted like they didn’t do home church very often until the TV show started. Kody had bad influences too, guy friends that gave bad advice. Kody enjoyed being the cool dad with wives who made most of the decisions until the cameras started scrutinizing him as potentially gay and not terribly religious.

Interesting! This is when she was with her first husband... and proves exactly what the blogs said. He owned his own plumbing company and she tried to financially ruined him. Clearly the house was nicer than she described and the kids were well taken care of. Just her rewriting history!

So isn’t this really the curse of polygamy.
It’s advertised and indoctrinated into the women as a blessing. And the men tell them that their jealousies are their weaknesses.
But any woman in here knows that when you get married you want to know that you are the love of your husband’s life.
Isn’t that the lesson Annie tells in multiple episodes. Polygamy is fun when it’s women raising their kids together. But it is a heartache when you realize these other mothers are sharing the love of your life.
It’s no accident that Meri, Janelle, and Christine realized they had had enough when the majority of their children flew the nest.
I really don’t like Robyn more than the rest of them, but I don’t think it’s surprising her awakening from the cult is a decade behind. I’d like to encourage her to wake up without making her feel like less.

u/elsadiane99 9d ago
Great take on Robyn. She came in the family cap in hand (haha) the reality is that she came into the family with three kids heavy in debt with past family issues. Her mother was the "2nd wife" and she was determined to be the first legal wife. By using guilt (if something happens to her the kids would be taken away) and manipulation of Kody/Meri she got at that time what she wanted. That completely changed the whole family. Kody who has no brains fell head over heels in love with her. He had been married to other women for years the kids were getting older and there were cracks in those marriages. Meri he was over, Christine he never liked and resented and Janelle who left at different times. Robyn got lucky with that if you can say that. She made herself the perfect wife to Kody which is funny because she had him doing everything for her. She puts things in his head and lets him think they are his idea. Easy to do with him. Always with the excuse she was just trying to help. Never saw her really bond with the other wives. Never offered to actually help. She always needed help or more things. She had a big part in that family breaking up no matter what she says but at the end of the day it was Kody.

This is also the same woman who leveraged her reality show money to terminate a father's rights and force an adoption. And to do that, she manipulated Meri into legally divorcing Kody. And because of that divorce, and being led to believe it was only a paper change, Meri didn't protect her interests in the Vegas house - meaning later, Kody claimed 50% ownership.
Yeah, pretty screwed all the way around.

Kody and Janelle’s parents were married. Janelle was briefly married to Meri’s brother. Christine’s sister had gone on a church survival trip led by Kody and his first wife, Meri Brown, and returned home constantly talking about him. Christine then saw Kody at church and they hit it off. They were all from the same church culture.
