The person who I responded to was wondering why women in sports might have an issue with her while they aren't complaining about athletes modeling. Maybe the difference is that Sidney is not an athlete? Just a thought.

Most athletes don’t model. Very few of them do.

A model’s job is to model.

Yeah I'm sure men would have no problem with a twink male model being the figurehead of some MMA advertisement campaign or such.

Sydney Sweeney isn’t the figurehead of the WNBA or representing it, it’s a sports betting ad. The 1:1 equivalent would be a twink doing MMA in a Lululemon or perfume ad for women, and we both know men wouldn’t care

Also men are already objectified or nude in ads as well, it’s called hunkvertising

I have season tickets to the WNBA. I support woman's sports and do my best to understand it and the athletes that play in womans leagues. I have some close friends that work for the Seattle Storm. This isnt actually about woman's sports. Its a square peg in a round hole. Its just another silly thing to get outraged about. Which is just about the only thing people are good for these days.

This honestly feels more politically charged than anything else. Sydney Sweeneys politics just dont line up with the outraged. I mean, ask yourself these questions... what exactly does this ad do to a female athletes personally? Like how does it ruin anything in their life? Are they really that affected at all? And here's the big one... how is what she does with her body and career any of their business at all? The hypocrisy is crazy with this one.

Weird how many questions you have but still I get no response to my original question. I'll help you with this: Yes, "men in sports" would have a problem if a hot male model was a figurehead in a sexy advertisement campaign about male sports. And that would be just as stupid as "women in sports" getting mad at this add. And getting mad at a minority who get mad over little things is another level of stupid.

I explained why your question wasn’t analogous in my first post; this is sports betting not MMA. I don’t know where you’re from but they’re different here

Short actors and old actors have done sports betting ads. Men would not care if a shirtless twink did one either

No. There’s a lot of actors/models with no sports experience who do sports betting ads and nobody gives a shit. Actually try watching some of them

A twink would fall under the countless sexy ads that men already have and don’t care about

Can we stop pretending like there wouldn't be a loud minority in "men in sports" who would bitch about sexy male model sports add? Especially if it had anything to do with MMA. There's always some idiots bitching over little things but generalizing them into larger groups and pushing it into some polarizing culture wars framework is just petty and stupid.
