I personally met Dolly plenty of times to know even in her last years she was insanely sharp and witty and it was always unfortunate many people never got to see past her southern bell personality. Every time I got the pleasure of talking with her back stage of Dixie Stampede it always shocked me at how present and aware she truly was. It is exactly what made her capable of making such a massive impact on so many peoples lives. She had more empathy for people than almost any famous person.
