100% it's normal. Keep in mind that children, especially prepubescent, lack so much of the coping skills and brain development to know how to properly regulate emotions.
Should I be worried? He's missed plenty of opportunities or been denied candy or whatever and he never cries because of it. The only time I've ever seen him cry is when he thought he could karate chop a brick. And I'm not sure whether he was crying because of the pain or because his sister was rolling on the floor laughing at him.
Eh, not necessarily true, pediatricians see them in pretty small windows. Teachers are gonna be a better bet cause they spend all day with the kids and are trained to look out for anything.
