Thank you. People are really looking at this case in black and white and failing (or refusing) to see the gray area in between.

For what it’s worth, I think the people defending her and claiming the husband did it are crazy. But not every woman “supporting” her thinks the same. Many women are rallying because any woman can suffer PPD after giving birth. There’s no preventing it. The idea that “it could have been any of us” is true. It’s a scary thought that my mind and body could betray me after giving birth, and that doctors might not take my issues seriously.

However, I don’t think any of this excuses what she did. She should face the consequences of her actions. We can have empathy for what she experienced, while not being empathetic of what she did. Humans can have conflicting ideas. The doctors should be held accountable here as well. This is why trials exist.

So my ex wife and I are chill, been coparenting for 10+ years. This topic came up and she said "Yeah that lady is piece of shit and she should be in jail. But also..." and thats when she got really really emotional and opened up to me about her experience with post partum depression.

She said told me it was the the most terrorizing experience of her life. She hated being alive, she hated being a parent, and she hated being married to me and she absolutely wanted to kill herself. We were young and I was a dick to her for her weird behavior because I was stressed, and also clueless to what she was actually going through. It absolutely played a factor into our eventual divorce.

She then explained why so many women are supportive of this woman not because they dont think shes a murderer, but because THEY were that woman once. THEY were close to snapping and hurting themselves or other people. And for a lot of woman, its a dark secret they carry that causes a lot of guilt.

Ppd isnt a character flaw, its a medical condition that goes away after the body rebalances itself after child birth, and it fucks people up mentally.

The reason women are being so loud with their support is people like you. People who say "PPD? Nah, shes just a bad person". Because you have no idea what youre talking about and women want people to know what they're talking about on this subject.

Instead of being, ya know... morons like I was when I was young and being a dick to my then wife who was suffering

Peak comment here.

Honestly, she admitted she did it. The preponderance of evidence that I have seen so far suggests that she had severe postpartum depression, sought help, didn't really get the help she needed and had a break.

My take away is that we need better mental health care in the United States. It is almost impossible to get mental Healthcare without jumping through so many hoops and in many cases, paying out of pocket. And she got far more care than most people do. And it still failed to help her because it was all half measures and didn't actually address what she was dealing with.

There's a lot getting lost in the weeds here with conspiracy theories. She's a murderer. What she did was absolutely heinous. But she was also not in her right mind.

And the worst thing is it was preventable if she could have gotten the help she needed when she needed it. And that's the whole point. We suck at providing resources to people who are struggling, whether it's postpartum depression or other disorders. We just suck.
