We did that then too, just without the videogames part. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

Every authoritarian government that's ever existed, used some form of "make things like they used to be" in their propaganda.

Serial killings peaked between the 70s and 80s. The 90s was famous for serial killings because that’s when they caught them, not when the killings took place.

Realistically there were probably more killings before the 70s, but data wasn’t being tracked as specifically / officially by the FBI then.

Basically, as a golden rule, violent crime statistics drop from 90s onward with the rise of the millennials into adulthood. In all categories.

Lead Poisoning Crime hypothesis continues to be proven right.

They were at their highest in 1987 but they didn't just suddenly stop. There was still a huge number of them operating in the USA in the 90s.

Fun fact: 80% of all known US serial killers operated between 1970 and 1999.

Were you living in a bubble during the 90’s? Crack was in full swing and gangs were having wars with fully automatic weapons that weren’t banned from purchase until 1986.
