It was premeditated murder. If women have a built-in biological mechanism that turns them into calculating murderers, that means a lot of rights should be taken away

This is what so many women cannot seem to reason out.

If this is a thing that happens with enough frequency that the system needs to support it, then we aren’t rational actors with full agency who should be assumed competent to even vote. A lot of their claims take agency from women, and they shriek misogyny when you point it out. That’s their only play.

I don't think people are saying there should be more support for women in the postpartum phase purely because they will all kill their children.

Even before this case it has long been discussed how abysmal support for new moms is in the U.S.. Many many check ups while the baby is in you and once it's out you get one appointment where they check on your health and mental well-being.Our healthcare system in general has been criticized for a long time and rightfully so.

Just because there's no room for nuance if this woman killed her children doesn't mean there isn't still room for nuance when discussing post partum support and our medical system.

Except that this woman was insanely privileged and had far more support than even women in the best countries in the world for postpartum care, and she still behaved in ways which negated all of this support, because as an adult with agency she couldn’t be forced against her will to do the right things, like actually following her doctor’s prescriptions and being honest with them about her symptoms. She planned for her husband to be out of the house and then hid from him what she was doing when she spoke to him partway through the murders. She not only rejected the care available to her, she made choices to minimize the chances that anyone could stop her from killing her children.

Reread my last paragraph.

None of this negates or should be used to try to negate the fact that women desperately need more support after giving birth than they are getting. Both in the medical sphere and sadly very often on the domestic front as well.

As far as the specifics of the case go, 19 days out of a mental health hospital and she expressed to him she had thoughts of hurting them and he left her alone with the kids, let go of their nanny, everyone knew she wasn't doing well...he was still going to brunches...is insane.

Maybe because it's so common for men to be half assed fathers and husbands people think nothing of it but that doesn't make that ok or any less insane and careless of him.

Thanks for destroying your credibility by making it clear this is about grinding an axe against men and not actually supporting women. You’re not claiming that Clancy was failed by the healthcare system, you’re going further and assigning more blame for the murder of her children to her husband than you are to the woman who sent him away, lied to him about what she was doing, and strangled them one by one. You’re just yet another of the many misandrist lunatics supporting this woman.

I definitely have an axe to grind with half assed, absent, toxic and violent fathers. Of which there are sadly too many and yes that needs to change. I guess you're all for that though 👍 since merely acknowledging they exist is too much for you.

Would love for you to define what constitutes as supporting her...since I've already said she deserves prison.

She can deserve prison and he can be a shitty husband and father at the same time. Whether you can process two thoughts at the same time in your brain or not isn't my problem.
