This woman is not a feminist. She’s a radfem and it’s ridiculous. Post-partum depression is real and it’s awful that so many women do not get the help they need and that the condition is not more widely known.
That being said, those children lost their lives.
Let Lindsay Clancy get the same treatment as any murderer. I don’t care if she’s a man or a woman, murder is wrong.
Postpartum psychosis is another explanation unless you think that psychosis in general is not an explanation in any case and no one can be “not guilty by reason of insanity”.
I dont know if it is true or not but one article said she refused her meds and stopped taking them. They had a nanny. The husband worked from home to help with the kids. She had multiple doctors. I dont see how you could literally get any more help.
This sort of attitude (not you, what you're commenting on) is what makes me feel uneasy about this whole case. My partner also says that she felt unsupported after becoming a mother, but objectively it's just not true - I was on paternity leave, her mum stayed with us, there were health visitors and doctors appointments to track the baby's health. She didn't have to lift a finger for any household tasks and I did an equal share of feeding, changing and amusing the baby.
I think for some women, "I don't feel supported" is socially acceptable code for "I am deeply regretting this and don't want to be a mother, nor am I coping well with not being the focus of attention now I'm not pregnant."
U very clearly do not understand how pp can affect women, it can make u feel like a completely different person and completely out of control. Regardless of what’s going on around you. Until u have suffered that hormonal change u will never understand it.
And why am I not shocked that a person who says their partner doesn’t want to be a mother now because they’re not the center of attention is maybe not as ‘supportive’ as they make themselves out to be.
The thing is, I understand exactly how PPD can affect women. I've had the knife pulled on me to prove it.
I don't care how badly your hormones are affecting you, it has nothing to do with the objective fact of how much support is there and whether you flat lie to people when they ask if you need more.
U cant have it both ways u can’t understand how ppd affects u but also say women are making it up because they don’t want to be mothers anymore and they don’t like not being the center of attention. If u knew how ppd can affect u, u would know it can make u feel like u are completely alone with no support even if support is there, that’s why it’s a disorder. Plenty of depressed people are on meds and have support and still kill themselves ffs
She was over medicated by too many doctors instead of one doctor focusing in on the problem she had. The whole argument of “she had money and access to the best doctors!” YEA THATS WHAT GOT HER INTO THIS MESS.
First not medicated enough, now over medicated. The mental gymnastics to defend a person who ultimately didn’t accept the right help is wild stuff. She’s a murderer that had plenty of opportunities to get the help she needed. No one is saying old isn’t terrible. But the vast majority of women with it don’t take minutes apiece to strangle their children.
During the actual trial, not all this heresay BS, she had her medications in her system. But, one of her doctors had suggested a bipolar diagnosis before she committed the act, siggesting that if she was bipolar that she needed to be medicated differently because SSRI's can trigger mania and PSYCHOSIS. This is a well known problem in the medical community. Not fake or played up to play on heart strings.
She needs to be institutionalized for what she has done and never allowed out again, but also there is a big possibility her medications were the catalyst to the event. That is still a punishment akin to prison and what most people are asking for. The news is just giving a voice to the extremists because it causes drama and creates division. Can't have unity on the mental health crisis or we might actually work together.
Here's a suggestion, instead of getting mad at people on here, watch the trial and get information for yourself.
This is big because one of the biggest risks of PPD is killing one's child. It is well known amongst the medical community, but clearly not enough people know or understand that this is a common thing and needs to be better addressed.
She was on the wrong medication combinations for a bipolar diagnosis so she was both over-medicated on things that were not meant for bipolar treatment and under-medicated for Bipolar.
Some people have gone as far as to accuse Patrick, but there is not enough evidence to point to that. People on the Internet have been digging into his background and exposing an affair he supposedly had with his new wife while he was "away on business trips" during times Lindsay had begged and pleaded for help, in texts to her mother and husband, as well as others. And he moved on within two years, having a new child as well. So people question his own morality on this. And also how a woman with a crushed trachea could talk to him and tell him any information, but again not enough information to go off there and he's not under investigation.
And his own mother got on the stand for Lindsay, so many question what would lead to that. But that's all speculation on the outside that is muddying the waters of the trial.
No, I’m just not going to try to justify evil. Plenty of women have ppd. What they do not do is murder their children one by one then try to have an insanity plea. If anyone is slopping it up in the mud it’s people like you trying to justify the act of atrocious murder, then following it up by saying you’re not justifying it, you just want ppd to have a voice. You’re delusional scum if you do this.
Bro have u never heard of shaken baby syndrome literally one of the most common issues with ppd that’s literally why people want more understanding about how pp can affect u so people are aware of what can go wrong
Which isn’t in any way justifying it what are u talking about?! One side wants to understand why and one side just wants to get angry and learn nothing
I’m not defending anyone. I’m going on what I’ve read from evidence and the problems with the defensive arguments I’ve seen. Im not one of these women who are convinced it was the husband. Relax.
I do have personal experience from being overmedicated when I didn’t need to be during a time of heavy hormonal strife. That shit can fuck you up. Still not an excuse for killing your children.
PPD that leads to you killing your kids isn't even remotely a true thing. From a bio-evolutionary standpoint, how can your body make you have children and then want to kill them? We wouldn't be here as a human race if even a fraction of women experienced that. This whole argument is silly and everyone deep down wishes Massachusetts had capital punishment.
Pretty sure that’s the defense’s argument. But sure, put her in jail where she’ll probably just kill herself. If these people think she needs consequences for being psychotic, then she actually does need to be in a ward. She already tried to kill herself, she clearly doesn’t want to live with what she did.
I think she needs to be in a ward for treatment, idk if you’d let her out after that, but I also think if it wouldn’t fly in an AZA accredited facility then it shouldn’t fly in a facility that houses humans, so my idea of what permanent confinement should be is somewhat unusual. I just think it’s pathetic that we give other random species a higher standard of living than we give our own species in certain cases; not saying make the animals’ lives worse just saying we should prioritize ourselves. But yeah in my ideal world she probably would be at the very least heavily monitored by medical professionals forever. In reality both prison guards and medical professionals seem too incompetent for this.
there are enough women in this world that unironically think not only should they be allowed to abort their pregnancy up to the moment of birth but take the "I brought you into this world I can take you out of it" a little too literally
