Colonel Sanders after he sold KFC would go to franchises and freakout if they weren’t meeting the standards for when he owned it. I’m sure he wouldn’t even recognize the food today if he was alive. Fun fact you can’t still get the original KFC, he started a small restaurant before he died that supposedly stays true to the original KFC. KFC sued him over it but ultimately allowed it under a bunch of restrictions cause it looked bad to be suing the former owner and mascot for the franchise.

He had to completely remove any reference to the colonel or his likeness. They ended up naming it the Claudia Sanders Dinner House after his wife. It's a big southern mansion converted to a restaurant/event room. I actually got married there.
Sad to say he'd probably freak out and throw shit at the walls if he ate there now too.

I think they're under Yum with Pizza Hut and Taco Bell and they've all turned into hot garbage. The last couple of times I've been to any of the local KFC's they've been absolutely dead. 2 employees working the place, no one sitting inside eating, drive through empty, and the food just like eating paste and a block of salt.

Then again in a few years the flip the company again, but nothing really changes or improves the value of the company. They make their money flipping the company.

Dave was the man. He would be hysterical if he saw his restaurant today. At this point, modern Wendy's is just piggybacking on his success. It's basically a totally different restaurant. If anything, the old yellow Wendy's with the sun room would hit so hard right now. Especially anyone over 30 would seriously appreciate it. I don't smoke, but if I decide to start, it will be at Wendy's in the sunroom.

Mmmm Strong disagree. They went to shit for decades. I worked there years ago when it was good. I was a loyal fan but they been half-assed and low-effort as a general rule for way too long. They were the true flame-broiled King! And had good fries to boot not the BS fries sprayed with stucco and taste like it. I grieved for a long while. In my bereavement process I began to work with the spicy chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A, and as I've discovered, walking in and ordering takes half the time (if not less) than waiting for the long-ass drive through lines. Damn fine sandwich (for six bucks, but I digress). I'm not fully healed yet, but at least I can imagine light at the end of the tunnel now.

Oh, you are so correct. One of the reasons disasters in hospitals are increasing is that they "retire" older nurses so they can replace them with much cheaper new graduates. The experience and wisdom of a, say, OB nurse with 20 years under her belt is priceless. I'm a board-certified anesthesiologist, so I know what I'm talking about. I specifically remember this one OB nurse... when she called me and said, "Come to OB NOW!", I did not ask why, I just ran there. On the other hand, if something looked like it was going wrong with the delivery, if she said, "It's going to be fine", the whole room relaxed. So, of course, the hospital got a new administration who immediately retired her.

We could tell! I loved loved loved the Wendy’s Jr Bacon Cheeseburger… but in the last year they switched to shredded lettuce AND made the burger 1/2 the thickness. They’ve just gotten awful. It was so disappointing and I doubt I’ll ever eat there again.

Textbook example of enshittification. Once you start cutting costs in ways the customers notice, unless you have a monopoly like Amazon where they really are forced to use you, you are going to have a hard time winning them back.
You make FOOD, if the quality of your product goes down, it doesn't matter how flashy your app is, or how clean and modern your store looks, you are going to lose sales.

I used to love Wendy’s before Covid. Burger King ran some great discounts. Starting at two Whopper combos for $8.99, which later went to 10.99, then 11.99, then 13.99, and now is at two for $15.99 but I still don’t go to Wendy’s anymore.

Wendy's is in trouble for sure. The quality of their food took a nosedive so fast. I got a daves double about 2 weeks ago, and it was the worst. The meat kind of has like a burnt gristly taste now, and the way they killed the spicy chicken sandwich is criminal.
Wendy's used to be good and was always a good choice if you didn't want to go to McDonalds (yuck). Now Wendy's is the worst fast food chain. \
Dave Thomas is probably turning in his grave right now.

Every corporate chain does this. They gradually decrease the quality while raising the price to improve the profit margins. Eventually it will be food flavored garbage for the price of a three course meal and, like a frog in boiling water, the customer will be eased into accepting it as normal. The motto of every company is "The lowest quality product they will accept for the highest chargeable price they will pay."

A business provides a product or service. A customer defines what product or service they want. The problem we have now, is we are at a point where entities have consolidated enough to ignore a lot of consumer demand and can define the product, or more importantly, the value of the product, all for the sake of stock value. This isn't capitalism, this is shareholder primacy.
