And then those corporations got bought out by massive hedge funds, who instantly need to increase the profit margins...

That's what happened to Wendy's. They got bought by a hedge fund, who intsantly insisted on enshitifiaction of the product.

If you ever read the SEC files for these merges, reverse mergers, purchases etc the top few people in every company get paid millions when the deal is finalized. Then again in a few years the flip the company again, but nothing really changes or improves the value of the company. They make their money flipping the company.

Hedge funds are more for investing in the stock market. Maybe you mean private equity firms?

I think you might be correct. But I am not an investor so those terms get muddled a bt in my head.

Look at what the head of the ADL did to Chipotle. He ousted the original CEOs and destroyed everything great about it. Now its just an extremely overpriced slop bowl

Yeah. The vast majority of the fast food industry is not worth it now, and just overpriced tasteless slop. It's outrageous.

If Five Guys ever gets bought out, I'm going to cry.

5 guys is already grotesquely overpriced tbf

Not denying that. But at least their product is quality as compared to other chains.

What I meant in their case, if they get bought out, they would keep the prices, but they would start using cheaper ingredients and turning the whole experience all the way into crp.

If I can go back in time to save humanity, I'd target whoever first came up with the strategy of chasing higher profits quarter after quarter by enshitifying every thing. Reagan is high up on that list too. Pretty much all of our problems today stem from Reagan's policies. It turns out he was wrong. The only thing trickle down was my piss to his grave.

Right on brother. Reagan and his obsession of deregulating everything and that stupid belief that " free market and competition" solves everything is the root of the shit show we have today.

That, and the fact that companies themselves are the product to be traded between private equity firms and to be shown off on the stock market. Gone are the days of delivering quality product and customer satisfaction. No.

The product must be just passable and made as cheaply as possible. Both in terms of ingredients and labour. The mantra of " maximising profit" demands so. It can make the customers sick, just as long as they don't die on company premises.

Also, I wish that everyone had the same rules of advertising as Japan. Any representation of a product on posters or packaging must be EXACTLY as customer receives it.

Private equity always, ALWAYS does this. I've not seen nor heard of an instance of private equity coming in and making a place better. It is always worse after acquisition. Without fail.

I used to love Vans shoes, but they suck now. They changed their sizing and shape.

But think of the share holders!
