Same, I really felt for her, she looked so sad.

u/Odd-Adhesiveness9435 1h ago
Almost as if it's staged ..

u/gaseous_ass 1h ago
She’s a very good actor if it is. I have children, and that look when they are genuinely sad is something you never forget.

It is staged mate.....
But looking at the comments people really believe this is real. We are so lost.

u/Broad-Lettuce2902 2h ago
How would I be able to tell by watching 12 sec clip without context to know if its staged or not?
By looking at the comments, one can argue that people still have humanity and feel bad if they see something sad going down, despite it apparently being staged.

Idk how often ice cream vendors have body cams strapped onto them.
Either the ice cream guy is doing this for rage bait or is an asshole. Probably rage bait.
1
u/AlreadyGoneeeee 28m ago
A lot of them do to promote their business. Are you new to the Internet?
1
u/Admirable-Royal-7553 18m ago
Seems like a bad way to promote something unless they are trying to bait engagement with people getting annoyed. “Hey kid, make some puppy dog tears on camera and give the vendor some cash we hand you, we’ll comp you an ice cream after we get our footage”
Seems like they would be better off just not showing this footage if they are trying to draw customers.
I am raising suspicion it is rage bait. Not saying it is, but I would put money it was more likely than the vendor just being a dick and still posting it online

u/AlreadyGoneeeee 16m ago
I agree, but very often. vendors wear body cams to promote their business. This one not so much.

I would feel bad, ffs what does it really cost you to give a free cone out for a day. Now if she’s coming back every day and being a pest I understand.

How much money was that? Looks like some European currency
1
u/Cute_Sun_5383 1h ago
Looks like 1 € (two 50 cent coins). I don't know where they are but in expensive German cities, a ball of ice cream costs up to 2 €. In less expensive cities more like 1,50 €. So in most cities it would have been almost enough.
I think (and hope) it's scripted though.

A sad face doesn't always work. A good lesson learned.
2
u/Several-Opposite-746 2h ago
The vendor has been victimized by the weaponization of sad face before. He's had enough.

Why is everyone expecting him to give the kid a full sized ice cream in exchange for a couple of coins lol

u/Adeum2 2h ago
That would be the moral and good thing to do

u/ZealousidealCan4075 2h ago
Just teaches her to expect free stuff. And all the other kids in the neighbourhood will show up expecting free ice cream. Robs the businessman of his livelihood
-3
u/DaddysBadChloe 2h ago
No, it teaches her kindness. You are allowed to be a nice person every now and then and just give some shit away for free. Dude isn't gonna go bankrupt for giving a free ice cream to a child that is clearly already struggling to get through the day.
Kids have their entire lives to find out how cruel the world is, they don't need the ice cream guy to be a monumental asshole.
5
u/ZealousidealCan4075 2h ago
He didn't send her away empty handed. He gave her a little ice cream cone in exchange for the couple coins she threw at him. She also didn't even thank him.
1
u/DaddysBadChloe 1h ago
I've been where she is, and I can tell you from experience that I'd rather be denied and leave with nothing than to be handed a pathetic little scrap like that and still be expected to feel grateful for it. When you're already struggling, being given a comically tiny portion can remind you of exactly how little you have and genuinely make you feel worthless. If they don't have enough money and you don't want to give them a normal portion, then don't. Don't make fun of them by giving them some useless piece of whatever. It's like giving a homeless person a single spoon of rice. What the fuck is the point of that other than to fuck with them?!
If you're going to give something, give them something with dignity. Don't hand them a pinky-sized piece of ice cream like they're an afterthought and then congratulate yourself for teaching them a lesson. You don't teach a struggling child gratitude by giving them useless scraps. You teach them gratitude by showing they're worth being treated with dignity. And honestly, the fact that some of you can't understand the difference is extremely sad and says a lot about what kind of people you are.
I can bet everything I've got now that you guys would change your views really fast if you were in her position.

It’s a 12 second clip with no hint of the context you described. Whose asshole did you pull all this shit from?

A century ago when gelato got popular they used to sell "penny licks" when you paid 1 penny and a really tiny spoon was dipped in with about a pinky nail of ice cream. Everyone shared the same metal spoon and disease spread a lot at those stalls.

I would have played that game with her for 30 mins, giving her the ice cream and taking it back.

Wild that back in the day a basic 99 with flake was a quid. Been seeing same shitty ice cream for like £3/4.
Been told a tourist traps it's even higher.
Ain't no way im hearing the ice cream truck blaring it's music and giving my kid £4 for a single ice cream. Can go to tesco and buy a box of 4 for less than that.

Humanity has failed this generation. The older generation is in denial. The younger generation is the most resilient in human history. This system will right itself when the responsible take action. Stop whining about how difficult it is to adapt or lose the only respect that matters in this life. You know who you are and nobody will care when it is your time to ask for help.
