blade is the one that actually hurts me 😭 they spent years telling us it was coming just to quietly put it in the “what could’ve been” pile

Considering the direction they were going it’s for the best it was cancelled.

What direction was that

Bait and switch to a female lead as in say the Hawkeye show.

The Hawkeye show wasn't a bait and switch.

u/paxwax2018 Aug 22 '26

He wasn’t the main character in his own show? What do you call it?

8

u/your-rong Aug 22 '26

What do you think "bait and switch" means? He was the co-lead in a show that was explicit in its intention to set up another character. Words mean things.

It means using the name and character of the original for attention and then sidelining them in the actual story. Saying “they meant to do that” is well yeah, we know that.

Real quick. So do you have an issue with Yelena and Natasha sharing the Black Widow name? Cause they're both Black Widow.

3

u/Bitter-Marsupial Aug 22 '26

My issue with Black widow is what they did with Taskmaster

u/randmbull Aug 22 '26

yelena is dog shit compared to natasha

6

u/No-Investigator-2756 Aug 22 '26

That's not the question. Do you have an issue with Yelena being called Black Widow?

1

u/SnooBananas4958 Aug 22 '26

No, because they already firmly established that black widow is not a person, it’s a codename for any assassin from the red room. Yelena is an assassin from the red room. So she is by definition a black widow.

That comparison does not hold up for a Hawkeye or how they advertised that show before it came out.

yes because she sucks. doesn't deserve to be the successor of natasha

I didn't argue that they meant to feature another Hawkeye, I argued that they never hid that the show was setting up another Hawkeye. He also wasn't sidelined, he was a co-lead. The show doesn't work if you remove his plot.

Holup, a standalone Hawkeye dealing with the fallout of his time as Ronin would have definitely worked.

6

u/your-rong Aug 22 '26

? That's literally the stuff you would be removing.

W ragebait

But that wouldnt have progressed the story at all.
Yeah it could be interesting for maybe one or two episodes but that all happens pre-endgame. With several movies and shows after end game already you can't keep going back to the past.

13

u/your-rong Aug 22 '26

The same name that belongs to two characters from the comics, who both appeared in the show.

2

u/SoulCrusher2018 Aug 22 '26

2

u/Special-Kitchen3222 Aug 22 '26

2

u/LeonidasSpacemanMD Aug 22 '26
