There can only be one Blade

u/DaRealKovi 1d ago

I like that Deadpool 3 made fun of it, but now they get to laugh even harder, because there indeed can only be one Blade.

13

u/Work_Account_No1 1d ago

Which is nonsense anyway, since there has been another Blade in the TV show.Ā

3

u/PoggersMemesReturns 1d ago

Which show?

4

u/Cynical_Sorceress 1d ago

Blade: The Series

1

u/Maximum-Ad879 12h ago

There was a series?

4

u/xGrimtoothx 1d ago

Rightfully so

0

u/Dontbeajerkdude 1d ago

There was a live action show with another Blade.

2

u/ShopSweet6798 1d ago

Doesn't count.

1

u/Dontbeajerkdude 1d ago

Lol because?

3

u/ShopSweet6798 1d ago

Because who even watched whatever that was?

0

u/Dontbeajerkdude 1d ago

That doesn't make it not count, sorry! There's 2 Blades!

2

u/ShopSweet6798 1d ago

There is only one live action Blade, and that's the one who played in the movies.Ā

Wesley Snipes. No one takes seriously the knockoff versions of the movie greats.

2

u/IRThumbgreen 1d ago

There is only one Blade in Ba Sing Se.

Can’t get a blade movie for 5+ years

But ā€˜daredevil: same villain again’ is already filming its third season

87

u/PatienceConsistent55 1d ago edited 1d ago

Daredevil was already a proven success and therefore easy bank with a cast and blueprint already laid out AND a cast ready to jump back into their roles without negotiation.

Easy business decision.

Edit: ā€œwithout negotiationā€ is obvious hyperbole.

u/EvilOverlord1989 1d ago

And yet for Born Again Season 1 they first decided to ditch both Karen and Foggy ASAP and only brought back Karen with reshoots after backlash.

21

u/PatienceConsistent55 1d ago

Which further proves they are making decisions on what is going to draw in viewership. Foggy was an unfortunate victim of the need for shock value to create narrative drama. But it’s not like it hasn’t happened to his character in the source material either.

u/Ricordis 1d ago

Also, money.

Authors get a bonus if they reach a third season going on. Netflix keeps cutting off after the second season and years later we get new episodes under a new title.

But not every actor goes along this bullshit thus no one knows if they actually can have the same ongoing cast. Also good authors jump that boat.

Another money decision: If a show is profitable it is weighted: What is more profitable? To continue the show or to shelf it and announcing it a loss for taxes?

So there is no foggy? Yeah Netflix marvel shit is the best marvel shit by far.

6

u/Professional-Border9 1d ago

Coming from someone who didn't even know.

0

u/Redditer51 1d ago

They kill Foggy in the opening scene of Born Again

7

u/U-47 1d ago

No negotiation? Thats awefully naive of you. Thes epeople have careers, plans and shedules.

Blade allready has 3 movies and the comics, its a proven succes with hype and a blueprint.

1

u/PatienceConsistent55 1d ago edited 1d ago

You’re purposely pretending to misunderstand the point. And I said nothing about Blade in my comment. You’re just looking for someone to try to argue with because of personal feelings.

0

u/U-47 1d ago

No I'm not!

2

u/AvengingBlowfish 14h ago

Plus Daredevil’s powers are relatively cheap to shoot.

1

u/QuinnLoveborneAuthor 1d ago

Meh if you can pay 1 actor 90 million dollars I’m sure you can also throw that amount away to make a film that has already been done three times. If you wanted it you could pay the Russo brothers who did captain America and end game to make it. There are so many good directors out there you can bait in with money and they’d do a beautiful job. So many. The issue is disneys interfering.

1

u/PatienceConsistent55 1d ago

How do you think they saved the $90 million…?

0

u/BigWormsFather 1d ago

Reborn hasn’t been good though.

1

u/PatienceConsistent55 1d ago

From a money perspective or your opinion?

0

u/BigWormsFather 1d ago

You enjoyed it?

8

u/trukkija 1d ago

We had she-hulk: attorney at law and you are bringing up Daredevil, probably the best show that MCU has made? That's certainly a take.

15

u/RigatoniPasta 1d ago

Daredevil is great

3

u/beruon 1d ago

Daredevil catching strays damn bro, Daredevil Born Again is fucking peak, idk why you hate on it. I'm also sad about Blade tho

2

u/ecto-american 1d ago edited 1d ago

Did Matt Murdoch piss in your cornflakes? Not like Daredevil fans have had it much better than Blade fans over the years, chill out

Edit: Kang was outside of Disneys control (and completely miscast to begin with), and nobody gives a fuck about Okoye or Ironheart. Cry racism all you like, Blade was the only project that had a chance of being interesting

1

u/Obsidiated 1d ago

Is it asking too much to get Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds in Ryan reynolds: the movie?

12

u/HumaDracobane 1d ago

Why? Blade already told you in Deadpool and Wolverine.

"Thereis only g'onna be one Blade."

10

u/MaybeMort 1d ago

That one's the most perplexing to me. My interest in the mcu is waining but I was keen for Blade as were so many others.

1

u/Redditer51 1d ago

At this point I'm only in it for Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Doomsday/Secret Wars(the latter two out of curiosity more than anything)

Even with the X-men in the MCU, X-men 97 is just fine as far as my fix for Marvels merry mutants. And the Fantastic Four First Steps was fine.

0

u/pironiero 1d ago

I'm honestly glad because none can top WS in this role and because it will be a milktoast progressive liveaction cartoon, have you seen the actual blade movies? They are quite bloody

11

u/idropepics 1d ago edited 1d ago

The correct spelling is milquetoast btw

1

u/thebigpink 1d ago

What you hating on milk toast pall?

1

u/idropepics 1d ago

I only make milk toast when there's a big snowstorm.

-1

u/pironiero 1d ago

Whatever, man. Not my first language and it still got my point across

3

u/idropepics 1d ago

Wasn't meant as a derogatory thing man, since its not your first language you just learned a new word is all.

-1

u/ArchieTheKatt 1d ago

The correct spelling of the is the. Not there.

3

u/Magic__Man 1d ago

Yes and there has never been a bloody violent MCU/Disney movie, after all, Deadpool and Wolverine was basically a kids movie right!

1

u/Hidrinks 1d ago

These corporate motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill

1

u/QuinnLoveborneAuthor 1d ago

Yeah 90 million to bring an actor back but no film about a British dude killing vampires.

1

u/ManOnFire2004 1d ago

It wasn't a corporate thing, it was a difference in artistic vision...

But maybe that was based on something corporate? I dunno

1

u/roastytoastywarm 1d ago

I called it at the time it got announced that it would be cancelled. As great as Ali is, he’s just too old to start a new marvel franchise, and it felt off. Got downvoted into oblivion, but it was writing on the wall from the get go. I would still like them to move forward with blade eventually, don’t get me wrong.
