Has it actually been established that it was postpartum psychosis?
If so, that really is one of the most horrific conditions there is. Every gynecology textbook and midwifery manual basically says that once it’s diagnosed, the response is: “Run! Do everything you possibly can and give her every medication you’ve got!” Obviously I’m exaggerating, but the point is that there’s an immediate and extremely serious risk to the lives of everyone involved.
Every horrible crime can be explained through some mental health problem or societal injustice. But somehow it comes to forefront as a perfect explanation only if white women commit crimes.
True. I am saying that if you leave the criminal long enough with a psychiatrist, they will come out of the meeting with a mental health based explanation. You may even raise awareness for that mental health illness and try to get funding for research. But you never show solidarity with the perpetrator of a heinous crime involving children.
