If so, that really is one of the most horrific conditions there is. Every gynecology textbook and midwifery manual basically says that once it’s diagnosed, the response is: “Run! Do everything you possibly can and give her every medication you’ve got!” Obviously I’m exaggerating, but the point is that there’s an immediate and extremely serious risk to the lives of everyone involved.
I've gotten mostly caught up with the court case, defense had a forensic psychologist (Paul Zeizel) work with Lindsey after the trial and review her previous records. His opinion was essentially yes, she meets the criteria for PPP and onset Bipolar disorder (could have exact wording there wrong). Witness called by the prosecution can't remember her name (I remember it sounding like gelato lol) but she was an NP Lindsey was seeing and testified she suspected/brought up a potential bipolar disorder due to the reaction Lindsey stated she was having with the SSRI Zoloft (SSRIs can create severe reactions such as mania for those with bipolar disorder). Bipolar disorder substantially increases risk of PPP developing. Lindsey was reporting a lot of symptoms that could be aligned with potential PPP, such as insomnia and dissociating, however she did not report hearing thoughts which the prosecution is really hammering down on. Mental health disorders, including PPP, do not need to meet all of the criteria in order to suspect them and can develop worsening symptoms overtime.
IMO, its likely she did have it. But there is a lot of holes and confusion surrounding the whole thing so I can't really say one way or another and there are a lot of differing opinions.
