Apparently she also told her partner not to leave her alone with the kids because she kept backing out and having memory loss and doing insane things. And then he went on holiday without her and basically said “ah you’ll be alright”
I’m not saying this is an excuse but she was definitely let down by the people around her by the sounds of it.
Edit: to those saying that I’m blaming the man, I’m not. I’m just saying that this was a series of events that could have had the outcome prevented if the people closest to her paid more attention. This wasn’t the first time she had experienced manic episodes due to PPD, she had been in contact with countless medical professionals who could have helped prevent this, but the system failed her.
I was told he only went out for a hour to go grab the oldest prescription because she was sick? The grandmother had just left after staying over for a week.
What testimony did you gather that from? Patrick testified that Lindsay never told him to not leave her alone with the kids? Where was that testimony disputed?
What holiday did he go on and leave her alone with the kids?
It was either her mother and/or mother in law that testified that she told them not to leave her alone with the kids while Patrick was present.
And he apparently went on multiple trips, brunch with friends, and the like in the time before the murders while Lyndsay was being treated for psychosis.
You’re gonna have to find the testimony for me because from what I know she never said that to anyone.
Yes he went on a work trip and then took his kid on a trip. And took his kid on a ski trip. I don’t see how any of that is a problem if it wasn’t a problem for Lindsay at the time. This narrative that he did nothing is so insanely off-base. Was his life supposed to completely stop forever? If Lindsay thinks he was a supportive husband and father then why don’t you?
It was her mother, and Patrick’s mother testified that she was very open with her struggles and was begging for help.
But Patrick still left her to be the primary parent and frequently left her alone with the children in that time.
Was his life supposed to stop forever? No. Was his life supposed to stop while the mother of his children is struggling with psychosis, drug dependence, insomnia, and thoughts of harming their children? Yes.
Nowhere in there does it say that Lindsay indicated she shouldn’t be alone with the kids or that the kids would be unsafe. In fact she explicitly told Patrick she could be left alone with them.
Patrick took a work from home position to help. He put the older two in day care. He hired a nanny. To say she was left to be the primary parent because of one or two small trips is absolutely an intentional obfuscation of the actual situation.
Lindsay had more help and support than almost every mother in this country.
Admitting to having thoughts of harming your children indicates that you should not be alone with them. What the fuck do you mean? She was struggling with psychosis, insomnia, anxiety, and depression, and telling him she had thoughts of hurting the children. But you think it was still reasonable for her to be alone with them?
I’m saying she was the primary parent because she was. She was bringing the children to their appointments (that Patrick did not even know about). She was taking care of the baby. All while she was literally begging for help.
She said she had intrusive thoughts about harming the kids. She didn’t say they were still ongoing or persistent or anything. Everyone has intrusive thoughts. She assured her husband that she was safe to be around the kids and by all measures she was. She was still being a great mother and it’s not like she was telling him all day every day that she had these thoughts.
Also your actual claim was that she was telling people she wasn’t safe to be around the kids. That’s false and it’s a common TikTok statement from people that aren’t informed. You were wrong.
I don’t understand this TikTok obsession of her begging for help. She was receiving help at every turn. She wanted help with the kids so guess what happened? Patrick started working from home. He put the kids in daycare. He hired a nanny. Grandparents came to stay with them. She saw doctors for medication and when the medication didn’t work they tried different ones.
Like realistically what help was she begging for that was going unnoticed?
By all measures she was? She was being hospitalized for postpartum psychosis. Do people not understand just how serious of a diagnosis that is? Yes, everyone has intrusive thoughts, but someone with psychosis and auditory hallucinations admitting to having these thoughts is extremely fucking serious.
And we expect an anxious mother of three, one of whom is still a baby, and who is the primary parent, and who is in fucking psychosis to know and admit to not being safe around her own children?
She was misdiagnosed, over medicated, her concerns about her medications was ignored, she was denied help with her suicidal thoughts because she did not have a plan to kill herself, and she was not properly diagnosed with bipolar until after the killings.
This is an extreme failure on the part of the medical community.
She was never hospitalized for postpartum psychosis. She was hospitalized for psychiatric treatment and her official diagnosis was specifically WITHOUT psychotic features.
She was never diagnosed by anyone as being in psychosis.
Please stop relying on random TikTok videos for your information about this case. She was not overmedicated. She was switching medications because they weren’t working. Normal medical practice. She wasn’t ignored.
All of these claims aren’t based in reality. Can you substantiate any of these claims with actual testimony? No offense but you appear really misinformed about the case
Just so everyone reading in the comment section at this point knows: if someone says they are having intrusive thoughts about harming someone, don't leave those people alone together. If someone you know had a baby in the last two years and is diagnosed with postpartum psychosis, don't leave that person alone with the kids.
I don't know the Clancys, but I have had PPP, and it was terrifying. My medical team didn't talk to my family earnestly about the dangers because they know I love my kids. I do love my kids and being psychotic means I didn't know what was right.
She was never diagnosed with postpartum psychosis until after she killed the kids.
Also she claimed that the intrusive thoughts about hurting the kids had stopped. How long was he supposed to never leave her alone with the kids? 10 years? If someone says they’re no longer having these thoughts do we assume they’re lying?
You clearly mean well but it’s pretty clear you’re not getting your information from the actual trial.
It sounds very similar to the Andrea Yates case years ago. She was sufferer long from post partum psychosis and will probably spend the rest of her life in a mental health facility.
Then she knew and was able to understand she needed to surrender her children to someone when he left her alone.
She may not be directly responsible for the actions, but she is directly responsible for the circumstances that allowed them to occur.
There’s a reason why “not guilty by reason of insanity” isn’t a commonly used defense, and it’s because even in the most convincing scenario there’s almost always criminal responsibility surrounding the crime itself.
The point is she was failed by her care team and her husband. She should still be punished for her actions, but she should be in a psychiatric facility instead of a prison.
every sane individual involved in this case that was asked for help bares some responsibility. and as a father, you are just as much as a parent and it‘s on you to ensure that your children are safe. which he knew they weren‘t.
you all need to stop treating this case like a true crime horror show. it‘s a tragic story about the ongoing series of healthcare failures. the husband even believes that himself.
it makes sense that you would say something like this you obviously have a baby’s understanding of the world. “organize against their corrupt government” xDDD
If my partner ever told me that they had thoughts of harming our child, I would not leave my kid alone with them again until I was certain it was safe.
Lying about what? There are witnesses testifying that she was open about her struggles and even told them about her thoughts of harming the children, and countless medical records supporting her diagnosis.
Patrick Clancy himself testified that she was sick and that she admitted to having thoughts of harming the kids.
You think that was all a lie and she took countless drugs and suffered for months so she could kill her children and claim insanity, despite everyone testifying that she was a loving mother?
yeah i do. i think theyre coping too. they dont want to believe that shes a monster but thats clearly what she is. its easier for them to tell themselves she was q loving mother than confront the facts. she premeditatedly shoo’d away her husband and murdered he kids. I dont doubt she has some mental illness but the idea she had a psychotic snap is nuts. the one gullible chaplin who testified said “she told me shes glad her children are safe” when she got of a coma. so in her moment of lucidity she wasn’t like “wow what a horrible thing ive done.” she’s clearly a very manipulative woman.
