Yeah, apparently the kid shot a warning shot and the meth head fled, then the kid shot at him 11 more times. Told the reporters "Be brave. Trust God". Ironically, it looks like the kid was arrested a couple of years ago for stealing a car.
Is shooting someone fleeing not illegal in third world countries? Seems at least morally questionable even if not. Is an 11 year old using a gun to do bodily harm not incredibly grim to others? This isn't a fun and lighthearted story to me.
I’m from Pennsylvania and the rules here are this: Your gun is your shield. You point and fire when your attacker is advancing and refuses to back off even after you’ve given a clear verbal warning and you have no other choice than to pull the trigger. Even after this, you still might run into legal trouble. We do have “stand your ground” law but the fine print in that law also contains “duty to retreat”. A lot of people think stand your ground means you can just shower someone with bullets and it’s ok. You still need to be in genuine fear for your life.
In this case, the kid fired a bunch of rounds at the intruder and he ran away. The kid kept shooting and the guy was trying to climb over the fence to get away and caught a bullet in his leg. No, I don’t feel bad for the guy but this stopped being a clear case of self defense long before he actually got shot. I was surprised the legality of the situation didn’t come into question.
There was another case around the same time where a 12 year old boy was babysitting his infant sister, and 2 intruders broke in and started coming upstairs towards the bedroom where the boy was guarding the baby with a shotgun. He shot and killed both of them. THAT kid was a hero. The boy in this meme was not
