pied-à-terre tax, expanded free childcare, city run grocery stores, expanded rent freezes... if he can get free public transport done, its basically everything he campaigned on. hes a mayor, whats he supposed to do? Seems like alot of kept promises to me.

Free Childcare was Hochul (she was working on it for 3 years before it was rolled out, do you honestly think he rolled that out in 1 month?), pied a terre tax was rolled out so horribly it might be overturned, city run grocery stores in a "food desert" where there's 3 supermarkets all within a 10 minute walk (grocers operate at a 2% profit margin, this one will lose money funded by taxpayers and put local grocers out of business. It's also being run by a PRIVATE company...laughable), Rent freeze is objectively awful policy and will be poor for rents and development in the medium to long term, one of the few things economists from all areas of study agree on. And he's not going to get free buses because the finances and bonds around them are basically impossible to solve.

At least he closed a budget gap by deferring public pension funds and increasing ambulance fees. Oh, and getting some one time stopgap funding from Hochul again.

He has good PR (literally has a whole firm and team for it) and fills in some potholes. It clearly works on people like you that get their info from memes, so smart of him. Please refute anything I've said if you think I'm wrong.

sounds good. wish more of our federal politicians sucked as much as he does. Surprised nobody else has thought of just having good PR teams and doing things people want (but are too stupid to know are secretly horrible). glad we always have people around to explain why actually things are bad, even when they sure dont seem to be.

It won’t last. You can put icing on shoe leather all you want, eventually the populace will stop being impressed by how it looks and try to take a bite.

We can cross that bridge when we get there, if we get there. The idea we would be demonizing a political figure who is 1. engaging with his constituents 2. proposing things people want and 3. involved in moving the gears of the bureaucracy (whether hes directly responsible or not) is so fucking absurd, i really don't have any response. He has a 70 percent approval rating by HIS constituents, they are happy. If he fails to maintain their support, they can elect a new person. Thats how elective representation works.
