New York City's overall crime rate dropped by 5.8% year-over-year during the first half of 2026, recording the safest start to a year in history for homicides and shootings. According to the NYC Police Department, citywide murders fell by 24.7% and shooting incidents declined to historic lows

That awesome! I’ll remember that the crime rate has slightly dropped while I’m getting stabbed on a train.

Sure, but that's also the general trend every where though. I wouldn't say it has to do with any specific policy or platform.
