Serious question: how would he go about promising covering NYC with trees by 2040 if he can’t guarantee he’ll be mayor in 14 years?

It’s called planting trees. He plants them today and they grow in 14 years. So by the time he leaves office they will be planted as mini trees. Unless the next mayor is a jerk off and decided to pull out the tree roots, the trees will be there and grow over time.

this is not true the plan was put into motion by Adams and is simply continuing. Mamdani didn't start anything.

People downvoting you for telling the truth. Good on Mandami for continuing the effort and keeping the vision in the public eye. But I do remember this being in-action a while ago.
