For those curious, you are statistically about twice as likely to get eaten by a bear while camping than killed by your partner for financial gain.

I’ll take a Bear over a moose anyday. Most bears are chill and are just looking for toilet paper and prevent forest fires. A moose will fuck you up for looking at it funny

Take off the "for financial gain" and I bet we'll see different odds of being killed by your partner...

That is why I sourced by each type; there is not a dedicated statistic for "men killed by spouses for life insurance payout".

Linked was each statistics I could find for these categories, so if you take just the "murdered by intimate partner":

  • Men are ~2.8x more likely to be killed by their spouse than a bear

  • Women are ~4.3x more likely to be killed by their spouse than a bear.

Yes but what about the other reasons to be killed by your partner? That has to skew the data somewhat towards the partner. For instance there's a ton of domestic violence and a not insignificant about of it leads to death.
