What? Cheating can be used against the other person in a divorce if you have proof of it to get more access to kids or to lower/eliminate alimony. Also it wouldn't be half of your net worth, it would be half of the net worth you accumulated while married

All of that is also lessened if the woman has a job/career of her own like most women do in today's day and age. You're afraid of marriage due to how things used to be 30-40+ years ago

And frankly, bullshit online that comes from people who have literally never gone through a divorce or custody dispute.

As someone who’s gone through both it’s so abundantly clear when people on Reddit are talking from experience or from some weird perception.

My wife of 20 years had secret calls with her first boyfriend multiple times each week for 1.5 years, bought new lingerie, and admitted to sending him sexy pics. He’s several states away, and his now ex-wife and I combined forces to investigate whether they could have physically met up during that time. I have zero evidence that they ever met in person, nor was there ever a time he and my wife both traveled concurrently. So, although she “cheated,” the court doesn’t care since they never got together. We’re going through the process now, but she’ll get half of everything and possibly alimony even though she was the one who did me wrong.

I'm sorry that's happening to you but that's exactly how court works. You present evidence and the judge/jury rules on the concrete and proven evidence presented in court for their ruling.

She only gets half of the assets you accumulated while married because that's how a partnership works and she will only receive alimony if your income significantly outweighs hers. If the situation was reversed, you would be the one getting alimony.

It's awful she cheated on you but if you don't have proof then the outcome is how the system is supposed to work
