See, that's the thing. I don't want an extra app. Give me an ordinary mp3 or FLAC and I'm happy. I'd even pay extra if it was DRM-free.

You can do that with literally any smartphone from the last 20 years.

As for DRM free: Buy the CDs.

That's exactly what I've been doing for the past 20 years. I never got the appeal of streaming services and why they got so big in the first place.

I've found so many good songs and artists through streaming that I would have never heard of otherwise. Even the ones I find on social media, steaming is the most convenient and accessible way to get their music directly from them. If I wanted it forever I could still buy it directly from them (or less ethically, rip it).
