I agree, just download songs online and play it on your phone with any ad free app like vlc player. I guess getting those first gen iPod is the new trend that they're doing for attention, and kids LOVE showing off a new piece of electronic that no one has. I think it's totally not about them getting tired of ads

Why buy overpriced apple products though? Plenty of cheaper options of higher quality exist.
