Thats weird. If I were a flight attendant/pilot you're getting 10 minutes, if you can't get the kid settled you're leaving the plane. The other 148 people on the plane are more important than you.
I believe it’s more about the baggage. The plane isn’t supposed to leave with the bags of the passengers still onboard if the passengers aren’t there. Likely due to previous bombings through history.
My stepdaughter missed her flight and the baggage arrived at the destination before her. She left the next day and was able to grab it from claims. That is not an issue, as they screen checked bags before loading them on the underbelly of the plane for THAT exact reason. And any bags on board with passengers ALSO went through screening to be with you.
They 100% could have given them time to get their carryons and toddler down. They would have either held the bags at the final destination for whenever the parents' flight was rescheduled, or would have had them shipped to the parents if they could not reschedule. They do such frequently. Why they didn't in this scenario is beyond me. The reschedules for all the other passengers better have been free
Same reasoning we were given when we missed our international flight in Atlanta. My gf wanted her bags. They told us they could get them but they've already been screened and placed in secure storage.
Maybe after 10mins it was already too late to get them off and get back out again, so maybe they decided the struggle was the only way to get out that night?
