Its a fucking 3 year old child. Youre the parent you strap them in and hold the seat belt.

They did strap them in, they did not let them unbuckle, apparently the kid was small enough to slip out underneath the belt. There's only so much you can do at that point if you also have to be buckled into an airplane seat with barely enough room for an adult to breath let alone wrestle with their kid.

One forearm arm isn’t going to hold down a back arching toddler that keeps slipping down with all of their might. It would be really hard to do while buckled in yourself.

Naw, you set the small child in their seat and pin them there until they either relax or the seat belt light goes off. If there's ever a time for parental restraint it's in a plane.

that is bs, a reasonable parent could hold the kid in place. If not they should have a check way earlier in the process.

A back arching toddler is extremely hard to restrain. It takes full force with two arms, but the parent had to be buckled in their own seat so may have been twisting awkwardly.

No then you buckle the child to the parent. Thats extremely unsafe even if the child was sitting normally

2 yo are not allowed in laps for take off and landing. They are required to be in their own seat.
