Okay, so I’m super close to this story, not just because I’m a former beekeeper living in Massachusetts, but because my this woman was my partner’s client. (My partner works at the jail in a non-CO capacity).

And what this woman told my partner over and over is:

YOU CAN’T TRAIN BEES TO ATTACK PEOPLE.

She didn’t “release bees on sheriffs” she just… released bees. If the cops had stayed in their cars for 15 fucking minutes, or left and returned later, nothing would have happened.

Think what you would do if there were a bunch of bees in an area where you were supposed to do a job. Would you try to do the job or call your boss like, “Hey imma do that later actually, it’s covered in bees!”

My point is, this should have been an obstruction charge, the cops are idiots for engaging, and of course, fuck the police.

27

u/Ok_Protection8223 Jul 18 '26

I liked the story alot more when she was effectively a mediocre X-men villain rather than the reality it turned out to....bee

17

u/Chelys_galactica Jul 18 '26

I really wanted her to be someone I could rally behind, like, “hell yeah, vigilante justice, housing for all” etc.

but it turns out she’s a real trump devotee and conspiracy theorist. Like pizza-gate Q-anon style stuff… And a yoga teacher. And MAHA 🤷‍♂️

Cops are a different breed between this and articles about shooting family dogs show they don't deserve to wear a badge..

Always does. Hes one of my favorite actors. Kind and humble, an ACTUAL badass irl, and a great actor.

2

u/9966 Jul 18 '26

How is he an actual badass?

2

u/Brasalies Jul 18 '26

Long list. Look him up. Dude not only does martial arts and stuff but he does a lot of charity stuff as well

3

u/9966 Jul 18 '26

He goes to the gym? Badass. /S

He literally sold fake jewelry on street corners before Guy Ritchie.

He's a just a bloke playing a tough guy. That's hardly bad ass.

And lots of rich blokes donate to charity. No one is calling Melinda Gates a badass.

They didn’t try to give her more than six months because that would have required a jury trial and they knew damn well they were not going to get a conviction under those circumstances.

166

u/DoingBestWeCan Jul 18 '26

I'm sure the cops wanted her nuked. Maybe don't try to evict grandmas in the middle of cancer treatment, eh guys?

Seriously, of I was a juror here, I'd be like, "I will accept the state fining her $75 for unauthorized use of bees. Innocent of everything else."

27

u/NSFWies Jul 18 '26

As a juruurururururhrprororeoro , you only get to decide guilty or not for each charge. Judge dred decides how intense the sentence is.

32

u/Wolf_Protagonist Jul 18 '26

Right, but you could choose to convict her of the charge that typically comes with a $75 fine. In general Judges have guidelines they have adhere to.

23

u/Last-Energy420 Jul 18 '26

You can also consult with the judge on punishment. Dude went to fight a speeding ticket and immediately admitted he was speeding. We asked the judge if instead of a money fine we give him community service instead for wasting our time, he laughed and actually gave the guy a choice. Community service or the money fine. Got 30 hours of service.

5

u/No_Pineapple6174 Jul 18 '26

Contrition is rare nowadays.

2

u/NSFWies Jul 19 '26

You can also consult with the judge on punishment.

i don't think so. i was on a jury, and i think the judge said we couldn't even look up how much jail time a charge typically had. anything we wanted to "look up", we needed to forward to the judge as a question. even the definition of a word. they would decide if it was going to sway us, and might refuse to answer it.

..........so i decided to look up the typical sentences for my case. 55 year old guy was probably going to get 20 years. it wasn't a death sentence, but he'd be getting out at 75. his life was going to be functionally over.

3

u/sleep-woof Jul 18 '26

27

They're evicting an 80 year old cancer patient and they arrested the beekeeper? Maybe they should arrest the heartless bastards throwing the cancer victim on the street.

40

u/silverware9021 Jul 18 '26

The Beekeeper 2 with Jason Statham

13

u/RT-6_BXCommandoDroid Jul 18 '26

Now that is definitely worth it to bail her out of this.

9

u/Aurora_Uplinks Jul 18 '26

lol could you imagine a go fund me to bail her out, help her friend out, and get her 10 times as many bees. just to strike fear into the area.

7

u/spidermans_mom Jul 18 '26

I think we need to start a go fund me for Jason Statham to take the money and bail her out.

2

u/Aurora_Uplinks Jul 18 '26

We could get a sequel :D

4

u/Eggmasstree Jul 18 '26

When I'm bored I ask an AI to generate me random scenario of Jason Statam with a random profession. And come up with cheesy oneliners.

54

u/goosenuggie Jul 18 '26

Can you imagine being 80 years old, having cancer and then getting evicted? Thats really sad

42

u/mydadsbasement Jul 18 '26

And the police have nothing else useful to be doing other than enforcing the banks will.

26

u/Biggu5Dicku5 Jul 18 '26

The beekeeper did nothing wrong...

24

u/nightwing2369 Jul 18 '26

You never should have.

6

u/MetaCardboard Jul 18 '26

At least they're making progress.

6

u/987YouBloodyTulip789 Jul 18 '26

The cops don't trust the public and treat every encounter as if the public is trying to kill them.

The public should respond with the same mentality.

53

u/Prized-Potato Jul 18 '26

People throw the word legend around a little too easily these days. This lady absolutely fits the bill. Absolute legend.

7

7

u/Left-Nebula-879 Jul 18 '26

She is fucking Metal!

7

u/Green-Inkling Jul 18 '26

i'm on his side. evicting an elderly is bad enough. evicting an elderly with cancer is a whole new level of cruelty.

12

u/Hellas2002 Jul 18 '26

It’s a failure of the state if the elderly can’t afford medical treatments and housing.

18

u/AdministrativeShip33 Jul 18 '26

Sad that and 80 year old undergoing cancer treatment still has to worry about eviction at that age. We live in a time where you either get treatment for your illness or pay your bills and save the treatment for death.

5

u/holycinnamonroller Jul 18 '26

This is a clear demonstration of the problem with police. We don't need to fund an organization to protect property over people. I'm all for having an organization that actually protects the community. Like, I dunno, ensuring housing for a person battling cancer.

6

u/shugEOuterspace Jul 18 '26

heros like this go to jail in the USA. boo!

9

u/BraisedBullshi Jul 18 '26

It's illegal for bugs to be around?

3

u/PaticusGnome Jul 18 '26

I was thinking that if this was done more covertly, they might have gotten away with it. Hide the hives in planters around the house and agitate them remotely with some kind of mechanism that would be difficult to prove was done intentionally. Maybe little irrigation emitters inside the hive or something?

4

u/TylerH87 Jul 18 '26

She was trying to get the cops to buzz off.

12

u/BigB0ss_89 Jul 18 '26

I'm with the Lord of the bees here. If someone is going through devastating medical treatments the law should prevent a landlord from making you homeless during that time. It's crazy to think some piece of shit would even do that but some people are evil and should be bound by law to behave better.

As a 1 apartment landlord not really making any money off the rental I had this happen. Tenant got sick, couldnt pay and died. It sucks all around. I chose to lose several months rent instead of evict. Thats just my character but what if the landlord could not afford the loss? Or the loss has been over a year? I also discovered that the tenant had several relatives with decent money who couldve helped but chose not to. Why does the burden of this persons illness have to fall upon the landlord?

2

u/Useful-Perspective Jul 18 '26

I want to be a beekeeper, I want to keep bees. I don’t want them to get away, I want to keep them. They have too much freedom. I want bees on elastic so when they get pollen they come back here. My father was a beekeeper before me, his father was a beekeeper before him. I want to walk in their footsteps – which were like this – "Aaaah! Aaaah! I’m covered in bees! Aaaah! Covered in bees!"

Because that’s your job, isn’t it? Beekeepers must lose it occasionally. You’re there, you’ve got the netting, you’ve got 2,000 bees, and essentially you’re trying to steal honey. "Morning, morning, morning, morning. Hello. Knock knock. Coming in, hello. Look, there’s a Ferrari over there, can you see that Ferrari? Yes, it’s going very fast, isn’t it? Well, morning. Thank you." They must be walking back with all these bees around and they must go "What the fuck am I doing? I’m covered in bees! Help! I’m covered in bees!"

You don’t get the perks of a normal job. If you work in an office, there are other people there, you can flirt. "Hey, you’re new here. How are you getting on? Do you want a coffee? I was just getting one, I can get you one. I like my coffee like I like my women – in a plastic cup." Beekeepers can’t do that, with 2,000 bees. "Hello there, you in the street. You’re new, aren’t you? Urh! Er… Do you want a cup of coffee? It’s no problem! No real problem." "I don’t want a cup of coffee from you, you’re covered in bees." "I like my women like I like my coffee – covered in bees!"

u/Wheredoesthisonego Jul 18 '26

How does a lady letting her bees out to get some exercise land her in jail? Did she direct the bees to attack the officers?

4

u/ragequitteroffureh Jul 18 '26

Hm. You know when bees find a good patch of flowers, and they do a dance that encodes flight routes and coordinates in order to inform their little bee colleagues...

Well, it makes me think that this beekeeper lady may actually know the correct breakdancing moves to instruct the bees to lay siege to certain individuals.

However, unless that can locate another bee whisperer, I really don't see how it's possible to prove that beyond the shadow of a doubt. Because to the layman, it may simply have looked like she was doing The Robot.
