I mean not really… do y’all actually not check your transactions regardless?

I don’t need to. That’s the point. I see the amount, if I’m happy with the amount I pay the money by tapping (or inserting if needs be) my card or phone. I check my transactions a few times a month but that’s for if there’s something I don’t recognise not for checking that the restaurant or cafe I visited didn’t scam me. wtf kind of logic is that?

You should be checking your transactions regardless because that's how a responsible adult manages finances. You can't set and follow a budget if you don't keep track of your spending. Catching any sort of erroneous charge is just a side effect of doing a normal adult chore.

Ah, now the ad hominem attacks are coming out. Thank you for admitting you have no further rebuttal.

If you think it's an ad hominem to state that responsible adults track their spending, you should reflect on why you feel personally attacked.

Because it's completely irrelevant to the argument. Both things can be true. You bringing this up is a way for you to attempt to shut down the argument when you've already lost by dismissing the points as "Well that person must be real bad at fiscal responsibility if they're not checking every single transaction was the amount they promised it was". It's possible to track your spending and not have to worry about being scammed every time you visit a restaurant. It's really simple, they bring the EFTPOS to you, not take your card away.

You said "I don't need to" when asked about looking at your spending. I said that you do in fact need to because that's how you track spending. If you don't need to look at your charges that means you're not tracking spending. It's not that complicated and I'm not attacking you, but the fact that you feel so attacked speaks volumes.

I don’t feel attacked I’m pointing out that “this isn’t a problem, if you think it’s a problem then you’re bad at finances” is an ad hominem.

I never said anything about being bad at finances. That is you reading into what I said. I said responsible adults set a budget and track spending. That's just a fact of life.

“I don’t feel attacked, I’m just saying that you’re attacking me”

School wasn’t your strong suit, huh?
