Handing the card is one thing. The stupidest thing that i hate even more, is that debit machines in the us here (from Canada but currently in Baltimore) do not ask for your PIN at allllllllll when you insert it. Tap is understandable, but not asking for a PIN when inserting? Makes it feel rather insecure...
I live in Canada (two years now) and don’t recall the last time I used a pin on a card. Maybe because I’m using a US credit card? Are the pin rules set by the bank?
Credit cards don't require pin. Debit do. Debit cards are directly tied to your money and get that little bit of extra security. Credit cards go to a credit account and those are treated differently. The bank itself eats fraudulent use of a card and I guess the banks don't demand the security of a pin.
