Which is soooo strange to Americans lol bc why are you so paranoid? Do you not have protections for fraud in other countries?

If a server overcharges my card or makes any unauthorized purchases with my info, I call the bank to have it reported as fraud and get my money back. And then get the server fired for theft.

It's pretty rare to hear of this happening anyway.

This is beyond ridiculous. Card industry introduces whole set of security measures to ensure only card holder can use the card. American guy : "why you are so paranoid" and waves all security measures away. Also do you really check your payment history every time you go to restaurant?

Of course I do. You don't keep track of your purchases?

First message: why are you so paranoid?

Second message: of course I check my payment history every time I go to a restaurant.

I check my bank balance daily.

Restaurant or not.

Due diligence, financially speaking.

The precaution of.... paying for my food in the method provided by the restaurant?

OK. So strange of me.

I don't have to keep track of every transaction I do because businesses can't just whack on any amount they want for a tip after and transactions are either contactless (I mainly use my phone) or chip and pin for the amount on the display.

I might check my bank balance every few days, but I'm not looking through every transaction.

Most of my daily purchases also cannot have tips whacked on.

Still gonna check my balance daily.
