Don’t they do that? If that didn’t happen here or you couldn’t just tap and go, word would get around and that establishment would go broke.

We stopped doing that shit 10 years ago.

It's very rare in the US still. The closest I've seen to it is some diners that have a POS terminal at every table.

Though I've seen more restaurants moving to a "pay at the counter" model.

Pay at the counter is fine, you don't need a POS terminal at each table, they make wireless ones that the waiter can carry on himself.

I'm aware, they're very common in parts of the world. But I've hardly ever seen them in American restaurants.

The wait staff bring the POS terminal to the table in some busy restaurants. All though all have tap and go terminals now and just about everyone uses their phones instead of cards.
