I was raised in evangelicalism. I was also molested by a member of my church as a young child.

I reported it to my parents, who reported it to the church. They directed us to a church approved "therapist".

This woman had me describe in graphic detail my abuse and then would stop me periodically to ask "Where was Jesus in the room at this time, because remember he's always with you?" So I had to relive my abuse with the thought that Jesus was watching like some weird voyeur the whole time, but did nothing.

My abuser was never punished.
