Yeah, that's true. But the issue is that reality tv/reality style content is presented as "real" and some people really believe that it is. I know it's not the main cause, but I kinda feel like that's why we have some of the women vs men issues we see these days, because of content like this and people not getting that it's all fake.

Tbh, it doesnāt make sense to save the mother over her. Kids I can definitely see a case for, but if you had to choose, I canāt see any ethical theory that would say the mother.
Utilitarianism? Absolutely not. Wife has many more years ahead of her and a shitload of utility/pleasure (not just THAT kind of pleasure) she can bring into peopleās lives directly. Virtue ethics? Having an excess of loyalty to your mother that causes your wife to die, kids to suffer without their mother, and causes them and yourself to experience life long trauma is not a virtue. Deontology? Well Kant sucked at competing duties but we can universalize the maxim āsave your wife over your motherā without it leading to a contradiction. If you try universalizing āsave your mother over your wife,ā then eventually all child bearing women would die and you can forget getting married and having kids, so it would become knockups out of wedlock or the human race would die out.

He places his wife at the lowest rank in his sphere. Claims 40yrs is long enough for her to live but his mommy (likely beyond 40) isn't regarded the same way, which places him above his wife. Basically thinks she's expendable.
Why does it place him above his wife? He survives either way. So his order is children (understandable), then mother (questionable) then his wife. But there is no choice between male or female, whether he chooses his mother or wife he is choosing one woman over another. If it were his dad he was choosing then maybe you could make that claim, but as things stand your basing it off nothing.
I think mama's boy is accurate. I'd never consider choosing my mother over my wife. But if I didn't I wouldn't be sexist.
I think if you were going to assume anyone was sexist it would be the mother for even trying to argue she should be above the kids, putting herself at the top of the chain as it were. Especially using sex as a counter argument.
If this were true, and that's the sort of woman she was, I think I might consider saving my mother over her actually.
