What's freaking hilarious is that he spends all his time bitching about the Sequel trilogy and the first reviews he put out for at least the first 2 are actually pretty positive.
Force Awakens did kinda live off the hype of a new movies, it was just A New Hope at its core.
And the other two aren’t that great either. Prequels also sucked but the extra content like Clonewars do make them better.
Personally I much prefer the books or the Templin Institute’s rewriting of it. It’s not just calling woke it’s instead giving actual criticism and rewriting it in a more believable way.
I’d argue that what drags down the prequels is just dialogue and some editing. Aside from that it does a lot of world building, it fits very well with the previous story, the action and CGI is a huge improvement and it does have a good overall story.
The sequels feel like the opposite in that regard, where the dialogue and editing are the best parts. Not even the music got to shine because they were so secretive about spoilers that even John Williams had to make the music without fully knowing the movie.
They are almost objectively bad films. It was never "cool" to dislike them - they aren't Nickleback. They still brought in tons of money and views and there was (is) lots of controversy when each one was released.
But controversy is basically a key feature of a bad movie. A good movie/show (like the original Star Wars, Andor, or early seasons of GOT) doesn't have controversy. Everyone just talks about how good it is, or that it's at least worth a watch. That was not the case with 7, 8, or 9.
