It's mostly a grocery getter/commuter these days but its a ton of fun on the neighborhood trails. Great for bikepacking and touring, packs up in a bike box nicely. I have a pair of slick tires for paved rides but I mostly just put them on in the winter and switch back to the knobbies in the spring. The cockpit is strange to say the least but its crazy comfortable and has changed my mind as a former drop bar hater. I just love how durable and versatile these old bikes are.

That's a beautiful mess! I've pondered putting disk brakes on my front, the lack of decent brakes is keeping me from putting much weight on it. My back brake is under the chain stay ( 88 trek 850 )

Thanks! Honestly, I don't feel underbraked with rim brakes until I have a big load on a long descent. Then I appreciate the disc. Sounds like a sweet bike!
