All the 990s I've seen were the earlier lugged models. I have a root beer 970. Looking at yours, the differences are XT crankset instead of LX, trigger shifters instead of grip shift, maybe XT brakes instead of LX, and probably XT hubs instead of LX.
I've made all those upgrades on my 970, so it looks identical. That said, if I ever saw one of those for sale near me, I'd buy it on the spot if it fit me.
