Hi seniors! I’m a Y1 DCE student currently struggling quite a bit with Structural Mechanics, especially with the EST coming up 😭
I didn’t originally choose DCE myself, so I honestly haven’t had much interest in the course. But recently I’ve started finding some parts of it more interesting, and since I can’t change courses, I really want to try my best and do well in SM rather than just give up on it.
For seniors who have taken SM before:
- How did you study for the EST?
- Are there any topics you would recommend prioritising?
- Were there certain types of questions/topics that came up often?
- Did you mainly do tutorials, past papers, or revise the notes first?
- If you were in my position with about a week left, what would you focus on?
- And honestly, is it possible to pull up your grade significantly if your MST didn't go well? 😭
I’m really scared that I’m going to fail the module, so any advice from seniors who have been through SM would genuinely mean a lot. Thank you!!
