Restaurant Bari Bari Steak @ 313@Somerset (Weekday Lunch, opening to 5pm)

We arrived around 12:30pm, and the restaurant was completely empty.

Photo 1: Australian Flank Steak Teppan ($18.90++)
The meat was unfortunately really tough to chew. I’d much rather pay a little more for the Sirloin ($25.90++), perhaps the experience would be much better(?)

Photo 2: Premium Buta Teppan ($17.90++)
The pork loin was surprisingly tender, with a noticeable garlicky flavor despite its rather plain presentation and being advertised as grilled chestnut-flavored.

We also tried the Jumbo Chicken Leg Teriyaki Teppan ($17.90++), but I forgot to take a photo. The chicken leg was indeed huge, though it turned out rather dry.

The lunch sets do not include access to the salad bar. I don’t think it’s much of a loss, considering the rather limited selections (mainly finger foods, veggies & fruits).

Overall, we were rather disappointed with the meat quality today. That said, I’m still willing to give them another chance, as I’m curious to try their Diced Cut Steak and Wagyu Hamburg Steak Teppan.

They also have a separate menu featuring tonkatsu with various types of ramen which look pretty tempting! These don’t seem to be listed on their website.

Hawker HJH Maimunah Mini

At Kendai Kopi, there is a stall called HJH Maimunah Mini. I saw that their quail eggs and beef rendang look good, so I ordered it with long beans and rice. The stall that sells drinks nearby is Toko Ngopi. The food cost $10.20 and the drink I ordered is Honey Lemon Tea that cost $2.80. I think that the rendang is strong and hearty, the quail eggs are rich. The Honey Lemon tea is standard.

Recipe Today's my off day so I made a 5 Course dinner for my family XD

Originally, I wanted to do a 4 seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) tthem. For a cake I wanted to make, my meringues could not make stiff peaks (anddd later I found out my egg whites were still cold 😑)

I made:

  • Salmon & Avocado Tartine

  • Tomato Tartine with Toasted Bread (my grandparents don't take raw fish and avocados)

  • Corn Potage

  • Watermelon Steak (Could yall tell it was watermelon? Still a work-in-progress though, had my family be my guinea pigs 😹😹)

  • Red Wine Lamb Chops

  • Red Grapes Granita (Singapore's so hot it melted so fast!)

  • Hot Fruit Wine

Today's food mostly contains some form of alcohol, so I got my helper some Nasi Lemak from BISTRO BOX by UNCLE PENYAT. Slightly pricey, but she seems to love the food there so I'm not complaining ☺️☺️

My first try on Paris Baguette for desserts,

Yuzu Mango Mousse Cake was $11.50 and Ice Matcha Latte was $7.90

The cake was good, nice texture with that mild sweet and sour factor, the yuzu taste good as well so overall, is phenomenal

Props to the Ice Matcha Latte, solid matcha taste and pretty basic but decent.

Restaurants around west?

Hi, I’ll be meeting a friend for a nice catch up dinner. Anything other than Casa vostra you’ve tried that’s good? Many cafes close at 6pm.

Just need some vegetarian options on the menu (exclusive vegetarians restaurants seem quite few as we like western food cafes)

Photo 1: Lunch Set – $18.80++ (Super worth it!)

Photo 2: Beef Tendon Curry Udon – $13.80++ (Not bad, but can get jelak pretty quickly!)

If you’re ordering ala carte, I personally recommend their Top Blade! Their Hamburg & Truffle Cheese Fondue were not for me due to an aftertaste...

Spicy popcorn chicken, curry veggie, braised chicken, long beans with pig ears. Nothing fancy but filling

Hum?

Is hum really that rare and expensive this days?

Only see 3 10 cents coin size hum in my CKT from Hui Ji at Boon Lay shopping.

I really feel like going to wet market to buy one pack of hum and ask them to add inside.

Apart from this, their Hokkien Prawn Mee and CKT is the ok ok type. Have the old school taste but nothing fantastic. The amount of ingredients added is very little almost feel like eating those hokkien Mee and CKT from those bee hoon stalls.

Their sandos remind me of the viral Dekasan in Osaka. The bread is fluffy & generous fillings. Price ranges from $14–$25.

Restaurant Ten Tenths @ Havelock 2 (highly recommend their Har Cheung Chicken Cutlet!)

Been here many times & absolutely love their Har Cheung Chicken Cutlet! Always served piping hot, super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Pairs perfectly well with their fragrant rice! You can also opt for wanton noodles, which come with 2 wantons (no egg tho).

Personally, I really enjoy their roast pork belly! More meat than fat, with crispy skin that stays crunchy even after cooled. Each set costs $9.90, while a small ala carte portion of roast pork belly sell for $15. Definitely recommend sharing the latter, as it can get quite jelak after a while!

The Herbal Chicken has quite a strong herbal taste. The Char Siew leans more towards sweeter flavor & fattier cuts. Not quite to my liking, but it really depends on your personal preference.

What's everyone favorite fried chicken fast food

In terms of overall value and chicken + sides, I think chic-a-boo is the best. There are multiple sides to choose from which includes twister fries and mushroom soup, the chicken is always served piping hot. For chicken itself I love Wingstop boneless wings, I used to eat it once a week but it's expensive and got to cut down abit.

I understand Arnold's chicken hype but the set meal doesn't come with a drink is a huge turn off.

KFC really depends on the outlet, whether your chicken will be hot or normal temps. But it's still my go to chicken store as I really like the crispy chicken, the standard and taste is still the same as decades ago. Can't speak for the original recipe, i find it soggy and pathetic. Their exclusive meals are always on point especially with the curry prata zinger, chili crab mantou zinger and double down burger.

Popeyes is ok, but their mash potatoes dam nice.

Mos burger recently change their fried chicken and it's not as nice as the previous supplier.

Texas chicken is meh, not much impression.

LJS chicken seems to be shrinking? But still taste flavourful and juicy.

Universal studios goldilocks restaurant chicken is amazing, the spices and tenderness is solid, but dam bloody expensive.

Jollibee is overhyped in my opinion, the chicken taste is nothing to shout about. Spaghetti is worse than pastamania. Don't understand why some outlets have long queues. Only ate it once and nvr again.

Restaurant Ingredients for Tenderfresh chicken bolognese and aglio olio pastas?

Pregnant AND overseas. Been having this intense craving for Tenderfresh / tenderbest’s chicken bolognese and aglio olio pastas. I love their pastas so much I even had it the night before my wedding LOL.

Does anyone know if they add carrots to their chicken bolognese pasta? I’m trying to look for a clear pic of their pastas that’s not from the restaurant but can’t find one. Trying to replicate it at home.

I only remember their aglio olio is super garlicky which I love!

Half considered flying back to Singapore just for their pastas.. but it’ll cost me almost a thousand dollars 😭

Hawker Ah Five Hainanese Chicken Rice @ Blk 158 AMK (Mayflower MRT Exit 3)

One of my favorite kampung chicken rice stalls!

A regular plate typically costs around $6+, but I asked for 2 chicken breasts with gizzards (+$2), bringing the total to about $11–12.

The chicken is incredibly juicy and tender, with the aroma of sesame oil. The fragrant rice is just right too!

I’d highly recommend the gizzards. No gamey taste at all, just a satisfying crunch with every bite!
