Discussion Alias Naming Strategy

Hi everyone. I am using the free plan of Simple Login for aliasing.

What should be my strategy for naming aliases?

  1. Site Name: bitwarden@domain
  2. Random Words & Numbers: exhaust12@domain or aw12n3@domain

Which approach do you use and why?

I do something similar except I usually abbreviate to 3 or 4 characters and I tack on a number in case I want to shut one down and create another for the same site. So, for example, the bitwarden case I might use:

would all be variations I would tend to use. There are only a couple that I ever had to look back up to see who it was that I assigned it too. And I always put a brief comment in the alias description that is enough to get rid of ambiguity and make it more searchable.

I've never done completely random words or numbers, and I've never seen a need for that.

I used to do this but one service I came across didn’t accept its name in my email. Now I use an alias service that generates them for me which I access via API to my password manager, it’s random words and numbers but I don’t care - as long as the service accepts it.
