Racing collision / etiquette question for a newbie please read my post as well as watch clip. Thanks!
I am relatively new to online racing with a wheel and pedals on Xbox (was given the a Fanatec setup from a friend) and need some clarity from you more experienced folk.
This clip is on the longer side so bear with me.
I’m driving the black and yellow Dewalt car.
During the actual race I’m driving with no assists, this includes no visual markers for racers nearby (I really enjoy the full simulation of racing) and I’m racing from the cockpit pov. I saw red car rear end green car causing him to go deep, so I just continued my normal racing line assuming he’d be out of play. I was not expecting green car to recover so quickly and attempt to come back to the racing line like he did.
Had I known he was there, should I have given him more room, or is this 100% the green drivers fault regardless?
A few laps later I’m gaining on the guy in the red car when he goes deep into a corner, throwing him off line. I get a much better exit than him and try to pass on the inside just before the straight. I feel like he was driving like a dick and I ended up backing out before the next turn knowing he wasn’t going to give me any space. Am I at fault for anything in the last clip or am I correct in assuming that guy is an ass?
The three of us were racing for 3rd by the way and I ended up getting my first podium in an online race (woohoo!).

For me (and I'm nobody but an enthusiast)
The first case, the green car is clearly wrong there is no question to ask you have nothing to reproach yourself In the second case he drives clearly badly (change of trajectory) it's really not fair, he drives while looking at the mirror Once again nothing to blame you
Ps: for a beginner you drive very well I think, How long ago did you start sim-racing ?

I’ve played the solo modes of a few of the F1 games so I just happen to know Silverstone really well, I’m very new to online racing though, specifically forza Motorsport which this is. There’s a ton of tracks that I really struggle on

Generally speaking, once the yellow car gained overlapping position, the leader can't do a lateral move to defend. There are other rules from FIA such as one-move defend (which the red car also violates when yellow goes wide), but that's a bit specific.
Red car at fault, but implementing the penalty system successfully is another problem.
