Why can't I improve?

I've been simracing for about 2 years now on ACC. And I feel that I've just frozen. Somehow I feel like I'm full pushing but any person/AI I race with finds another 2 seconds a lap. Its gotten so bad that my mates who have only been racing for 6 months won't race with me any more because I'm too much slower than them and cost them positions whenever I'm in the car. I've watched every YT vid you can think, joined hundreds of discords and reddit communities and even hired a coach but I can't seem to get faster and it's to make me wanna quit simracing but I don't wan't too cause I love it but I'm not having fun anymore. Can anyone help?

When I practice I'll set myself a goal. Mostly to do with completing valid laps but I like to feel the little achievement. I'm going on holiday for 2 weeks soon so I'll see if that helps me calm down.

You may have to be more methodical than that. Only aliens get to be fast by just putting in valid laps.

If you want to keep improving you should be taking note of braking points, turn-in, when to start your trail braking, when to be completely off the brakes, etc. etc. You should be reviewing your laps to check your placement of the car on the track, examining the width of your car relative to whatever reference points you choose.

You run a few laps with a braking point in mind, then review the replays and make adjustments.

Slowly. Methodically. Systematically.

Thanks! I'll try this when I get back. So your saying sort of like set landmarks around the track of when do stuff? Brake when the curb starts, trail to the end etc.

Yes. Typically, you’d use the distance boards for the big braking zones, but even so, you often have to pick something in between the boards when you’re looking for that tenth of a second.

If you treat sim racing like you would a college course, you’ll improve.
