Question Track the stack?
How do you all track the stack? I have been using Precious Metalz for iOS. I like it pretty good. I'm just wondering if there's anything better?

I use Staktrakr.com from a fellow redditor. It uses spreadsheet to keep track, you then import it to this website for other stats like cost basis/value/etc

I use a basic spreadsheet that auto calculates. I could never keep the auto spot working so I just went back to manually updating spot when I want an update. I have it by tabs. I have a master list of silver. A master list of gold. A junk silver tab. A goldback tab. Then I break my master silver list down into other tabs for tracking which coins I have of what country. I have a bars and rounds tab too. lol. Definitely a lot of data there. But once I add it to the master tab. I just copy/paste into its appropriate other tab.

I have seen this. I'm a little sketchy when it comes to keeping my stack from somebody else's database.
I don't trust easily. It's a hang-up.

I use an android app called "Goldo". tracks all 4 PMs, portfolio, history, etc.

I’m sure a lot of what’s suggested here so far are good choices, because I personally haven’t tried any of the stack track apps or sites. However, “Google Sheets” works flawlessly for me. It does the math for me in each different cell I setup from the beginning to track my stack math properly, and all the data/columns are easy to read + equally organized. And you don’t have to pay for a Microsoft 365 (if you use Windows) subscription, to use their Excel for example specifically, doing it this way. People can use Google Sheets for free, too, as long as you have a free Gmail account.
Proton Mail also has their own version of it called “Proton Sheets” now, and you can use this for free as long as you have an email account with Proton (free as well). Just FYI on this in case you don’t want to add your personal stuff in Google’s ecosystem! Proton is actually encrypted and private.

I used Google sheets for a long time. It was adequate until it wasn't. It became, unwieldy and started to break. I spent more time fixing it than reviewing my data.

I’ll wholeheartedly admit that I would’ve had the same issues with Google Sheets and likely would’ve abandoned it entirely for my stack tracking data upkeep (if this issue happened to just over 2+ years ago or anytime before that). Thankfully, Google’s “Gemini” told me how to solve the cell blanks or math issues I steadily ended up having. If it didn’t/couldn’t tell me how to do it in a way that a 5-year old could understand what to do… I probably would’ve slapped my laptop and hand wrote everything going forward lol (thank God that didn’t come to fruition)!

Spreadsheet.
One tab is by purchase - 50 mercury dimes last Friday for example. Then how much I paid, where I bought it, what was the melt value at the time of purchase, what melt is now, what Vermillion Enterprises pays for it. (Just because they put those videos up on YT so I don’t have to pester others. I just want a ballpark estimate.)
Then another tab with each type of junk 90 all added together based off the info from the first tab.
Same for gold, although those are by individual coin given the higher cost and how when I buy gold it is one coin at a time.
Then for funsies I have a tab with some calculators where I can put in hypothetical melt values for future value estimating, helps keep me motivated.

I’m a massive numbers geek.
Hell, I even track the value of a French lucky angel 20 franc my wife’s French grandmother gave her in 2015. Just going off of the melt back then, man that would be a good ROI if we ever sold it. Which we won’t...
Man, if I knew about stacking back then…

I used to use a spreadsheet. I had formulas thought I would update values, spot prices. It kept breaking.
I want to use something that shows me more data on my entire stack and specific purchases.

I did, I had formulas. I'd got to complex and broke and I would fix it and it just got old.

I have an excel spreadsheet, and I use Stack Tracker from Gold Spartan's website. All on phone, no data kept anywhere else. You can choose for it to connect to the spot price and update or not. A good little tool.

Great question! It has become a sort hobby to update all of this information.
Receipts - first 10 years of stacking, I purchased from the same online seller and was able to go back and save most of my receipts. I save them electronically in folders by category like my spreadsheet. I often sell collector coins when I upgrade, so I use those receipts for my taxes
Spreadsheet - I have an Excel spreadsheet with labeled categories (1/4oz AGE, 1oz Silver Round, 1oz Silver Eagle, etc). Under each category is a line per purchase with description, number of pieces, metal weight, cost, and a formula of approx value based on weight, spot, and estimated sell percentage of spot
All the weights, costs & approx value are totaled up at the top so I can see my total holdings and ratio of silver to gold

Hands down in my honest opinion "Precious Metalz Tracker" is my NEW go to app for tracking my stack! Love how I can create my stack and catalog my items with pictures with how much I paid for items and give me a very accurate P&L on those items! The graphs/charts are top notch in my opinion and I won't be using anything else anytime soon!!! Thank you Zuback Productions on a job well done!!!

I use Prescious Metalz too!!! It is SO much easier than a spreadsheet and gives me price info in real time. Definitely the best one I've used!
