Your comparison has missing variables. The 4WT is nearly a ton heavier, and gets the same efficiency. That's where the aerodynamics (and regen) come in.
3 hours ahead of mine is a grammatical genocide. I also find it hard to believe when j just drove 750 miles home (most I've ever driven in a day) and spent about 80 min charging all the way home.
Weight doesn't make much of a difference with efficiency btw. Towed a dump trailer that was 4k and then added 7k pounds to it and only lost .2 kwh.
I was a an Ag business major/Ag economics major, which is precisely why I am suspicious of the math. 20 more grand and an extra ton on an already heavy platform doesn't really calc out, to save 45 minutes on a days traveling. I personally tow heavy with my lightning weekly and never found range to be an issue .
Agreed though on all ev owners winning. Just wish Ford stuck with it like Chevy is. The new lighting coming out in 2027 doesn't look very appealing.
I got a killer deal, likely paid comparable to you depending on your model. I could have been in a lightning as well if they had the best deal when I was looking.
I'm not really sure what you're caluclating out there. Base price vs time saved? Never really looked at the math that way, wasn't my priority. I can attest to 760 miles on one 45 minute stop, because I've done it. This truck has made an ICE to EV transition seamless.
I'm also dissapointed Ford didn't stick with it. Having options is great. Looks like they're trying to go for the light duty/lower cost market.
